I’ve been to the Philippines a few weeks ago. Being away from the country for more than a decade, I really wanted to eat at this restaurant and see if it’s how I remember it. And yes, Gerry’s Grill – Mall of Asia successfully delivers on its promise of authentic Filipino comfort food in generous portions and with reasonable prices. The dishes are still consistently flavorful, the service attentive, efficient, and professional despite the restaurant’s busy environment, and the server and place are both friendly and lively. In my opinion, Gerry’s Grill continues to uphold its reputation as a reliable destination for traditional Filipino dining — a place where the flavors are familiar, the servings abundant, and every dish invites you to share good food and warm conversation with family and friends.
The meal started with a trio of classic appetizers: Fried Spinach, Calamares, and Lumpiang Shanghai.
The Fried Spinach offered a light and crispy texture, providing a simple yet satisfying start to the meal.
The Calamares is on point and well fried — tender squid encased in a golden, seasoned batter, accompanied by some dipping sauces that enhanced its flavor.
The Lumpiang Shanghai, a staple in Filipino cuisine, was evenly fried and filled with a pork mixture. I didn’t taste this one since I am not a fan of pork but it was gone as soon as it got served, so I say it’s good.
The menu selection of main dishes showcased the diversity of Filipino cooking, ranging from grilled seafood, fried dishes to richly sauced meat specialties.
We ordered a Crispy Pata, Sisig, and Pork Karekare which are pork dishes. Since I didn’t try any, I can only comment on it’s appearance.
The Crispy Pata was perfectly deep-fried to achieve a crackling exterior while maintaining tender, juicy meat within. It paired well with the classic soy-vinegar dip, I heard.
The Sisig, served sizzling hot, looked well-balanced with the onions and looked rich.
Meanwhile, the Crispy Pork Kare-Kare offered an inventive take on the traditional peanut stew.
Seafood lovers would appreciate all the dishes we ordered. I know I did!!!
The Grilled Pusit, which was tender and smoky, showcasing the freshness of the squid.
The Blue Marlin Steak followed in a similar theme, delivering a well-grilled fish, not overdone in any portions.
The Bangus ala Pobre highlighted the delicate flavor of milkfish complemented by some sauteed onion and some veggies like carrots and one that I don’t recognize.
For noodle dishes, we got a Pancit Palabok, which looked flavorful, topped generously with shrimp, boiled egg, and pork chicharon, while the Pancit Canton offered a hearty mix of noodles, shrimp and vegetables.
Additional dishes we ordered: Ampalaya Guisado and Beef Kaldereta.
The Ampalaya Guisado, one of my favorite dishes, provided a refreshing, slightly bitter counterbalance to the heavier dishes, while the Beef Kaldereta featured tender beef meat in a tomato-based sauce with a perfectly balanced spice for added depth.
Gerry’s Grill offer a lot of drinks but the Mango Shake stood out for me — thick, creamy, and naturally sweet, capturing the tropical essence of the...
Read moreWe celebrated my brother’s birthday at Gerry’s Grill MOA and had a really disappointing experience.
I asked the staff if there was any birthday treat or even just a birthday song. They said the only freebie was leche flan—but we never got it. What made it worse, other celebrants that night got birthday songs from the staff, but not us.
I also asked politely if they could take our family picture. The staff said “wait lang po” but they never came back to take our photo. Meanwhile, I saw them happily taking pictures for other tables.
Very poor service and unfair treatment. Never again at Gerry’s Grill MOA.
EDITED POST:
We had a disappointing experience during our visit at Gerry’s Grill MOA yesterday. We felt discriminated and were not treated well, especially since we came all the way from Cavite to celebrate my brother Gerald’s birthday. It was really frustrating for us as a family.
However, I want to sincerely thank Sir Jimmy Lagrimas, Area Manager, for personally reaching out to us and making the effort to address our concern. He even arranged for food to be delivered to us as a gesture of apology, which we truly appreciated. The compliment goes to him alone — thank you, Sir Jimmy, for your professionalism, kindness, and for making us feel valued...

We dined here as a group of 10, and unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired.
We had to wait quite a while to be seated. Despite pre-ordering our food while waiting, it was after 30 minutes, only 6 out of 8 viands and 5 out of 10 servings of rice were served. That meant half of us couldn’t even begin eating. Multiple follow-ups later—about 25 more minutes—rice was finally served, along with one more viand. The last viand? After all that waiting, we were just told it was no longer available.
When it came time for dessert, we ordered 5 halo-halo and were told it would take 5–10 minutes. 25 minutes and several follow-ups later, we decided to cancel and asked for the bill. The halo-halo arrived with the bill—too late, but we accepted them out of courtesy, and the bill had to be recalculated.
The food was okay—average at best—but the service was very poor. Delayed orders, incomplete servings, and lack of communication made this a frustrating dining experience. We were hoping for a pleasant meal, but sadly, it was more stressful...
