Teppanya MOA ruined our celebration. Read this before booking.
We arrived on time for our June 14 4 PM reservation and were told to sit outside in the heat for 30 minutes. It was humid. Our guests were mostly seniors. And yet, the receptionistâunkempt, yes, unkempt, sarcastically said, âPasensya na po, mainit talaga sa MOA,â instead of doing her job and figuring out how to make guests comfortable. Vikings and other restos in the same area had fans. Teppanya? Nothing. Just a long line of sweaty, disappointed guests baking outside.
When we were finally seated, they said it took long because they were âcleaningâ the table. Really? It was sticky, greasy, and gross. They crammed us all in one area of the table, even though we reserved for the unlimited option, just to squeeze in those who didnât order unlimited. So how exactly is the chef supposed to know who gets what? And how do you expect a fair time split for the 2-hour limit when you jam different orders together?
Then came the manager, and surpriseâhe was also unkempt, visibly unhygienic, and just as sarcastic. My cousin, who was soft-spoken but assertive, was met with this manâs condescending tone and remarks like we were some barkada at a cheap bar. He said, âKumalma kayo maâam, masyado kayong mainit,â as if we were the problem for expecting basic decency and competence.
They were even pushing us to avail the â±25,000 solo room, like thatâs a solution to their own lack of preparedness. We were told they were short-staffed and that many tables were under repair. So because you canât manage your own operations, weâre the ones who have to suffer?
When I spoke up, I told him clearly that theyâre in the service industryâthey should know how to listen to feedback without getting defensive. And yet, again with the sarcasm: âMasyado kang mainit maâam.â Thatâs when I told him off. He didnât even have the guts to look me in the eye. Clearly, zero training, zero professionalism. The receptionist and manager looked and acted nothing like the roles they claimed to hold. Their behavior reflected the restaurant perfectlyâwarm (and not in a good way), sticky floors and tables, sweaty guests, and no one in charge.
We walked out. We had our dinner at East Ocean Palace instead, where they actually knew how to treat customers with respect.
DO NOT book Teppanya MOA if you value your celebrations, your comfort, or your dignity. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. Unless you want your special day completely ruined by incompetence and bad hygiene, avoid this place at all costs.
If the manager and receptionist are unruly, unkempt, and unapologetically unprofessional outside business hours please remind them to leave that outside the establishment once their...
Read moreIn my dining experience this is the first time that i am ever gonna write a review and I will be as honest as i can because this is how disappointed i am with the experience. Super bad experience upon dining with teppanya moa, service was bad and as customers we were suppose to go out of a restaurant satisfied at least, but no this did not happened. We were already asking recommendations upon ordering but we were not given any option. Waiting time was too long. We were 4 groups in a table and only 2 groups were entertained properly and were served on time. Chefâs ingredient tray seemed disorganized, our orders were disorganized. One of our order will not be served pa if we hadnât asked about it and when the chef started cooking he only asked and entertained the other 2 groups. Putting an understanding on it kasi madami silang order, still he also shouldâve checked kung may meat kami na order or seafood but no he did not and he continued on cooking and serving the other two groups while us and the other guest was left to wait for too long making us lose our appetite. Me and my partner felt like we paid for nothing. Di din namen nasulit yung food kasi nawalan na kami gana sa tagal. We did not order much na nga na lulutuin para sana di na kami mag wait and yet, the other groups were already getting full and we were just served with the vegies. Also when the rice was served it has gone cold na sa tagal nung meat and squid namen na at the end seemed like natabunan na or as our understanding di pala ata nalagay sa tray na lulutuin. We were so disappointed with the service na bale-wala na yung quality and taste ng food. No one also bothered asking us from the crew or even the chef about our orders. We also initiated na in mentioning our orders but still took time and we were still not accommodated at the end and had to wait pa rin. To add on all this one of our order which is a maki roll was mixed up with a different dish pa. We hope you better your service with your customers and give them what they paid for all the time specially you have 10%...
Read moreI donât normally post reviews, but as a mother, a senior, and someone who values respect and proper service, I have never felt more insulted than I did at Teppanya MOA.
We arrived before our 4 PM reservation, only to be told to wait outside in the heat for almost 30 minutes. Most of us were senior citizens. There were no fans, no proper waiting area, no urgency from the staff. When we politely asked about updates, the receptionistâwho looked unkempt and uninterestedâsarcastically told us âPasensya na po, mainit talaga sa MOA.â Other restaurants nearby had fans. Teppanya had excuses and bad attitude.
When we were finally seated, the table was sticky and greasy. They crammed us into one side, even though we reserved for unlimited, just so they could squeeze in guests who didnât order the same. How are we supposed to enjoy a proper teppanyaki experience like that? Whereâs the system? Whereâs the respect for guests who came early and paid for premium service?
Whatâs worse is how the manager handled the situation. My nieceâwho was calm and assertiveâraised a concern, and instead of listening professionally, he spoke to her like a tambay. He said, âKumalma kayo maâam, masyado kayong mainit.â This is your manager? Talking down to guests? Sarcastic, poorly groomed, unprofessional, and obviously not trained to handle any form of feedback.
My daughter stepped in and told him offâand rightfully so. This wasnât about food anymore. It became clear that Teppanya MOA has no regard for respect, hygiene, or basic customer service.
We walked out and had dinner elsewhere, where we were treated with the dignity we deserved.
Teppanya MOA is a disgrace to the brand. If management continues to let that kind of behavior slide, then this place will keep disappointing families and ruining special occasions. Donât waste your time, money, or...
