I can imagine this place being good a few decades ago when casual Filipino dining wasn't as common.
With newer players in the market however, this restaurant just isn't good enough. Food generally feels like a budget Via Mare or Lorenzo's Way, with no distinct characteristics to set it at par or above. Taste is also below average, and feels like an in-between of home cooking and restaurant quality. Ingredients are not particularly premium and at times do not composite well into their dishes. There is very little consistency between dishes and some plates may feel more over cooked than others.
Service does not offer any redeeming qualities either. Some staff members, especially older ones, can be very rude and disrespectful. While our server was taking our order for dessert, another waiter interrupted them to ask a non-urgent question. This prompts our server to cut us off in the middle of placing our order to answer the other waiter and it hardly got any better from there. After speaking to the other waiter, our server would look back and try to take our order, only to realize they had something else to tell the other server, cutting us off again. This had happened in series for a total of 3 times, leaving us just watching their exchange for several minutes. The staff is also very haphazard at setting down dishes and drinks, occasionally bumping into you or your arms even while you eat. They also have very little tact cleaning out the table, and do not even take to asking whether you are done with your dishes.
Atmosphere is generally okay, and may be appreciated by fans of the Filipino maximalist style. There is however little cohesion by the way the place is designed and decorated, and terribly feels like just a repository of things the owner wanted to keep.
Frankly, this is one of the worst reviews I've written here in terms of service and I likely won't be...
Read moreCafe Juanita is a must-visit restaurant for anyone who loves Italian food. Located in Kirkland, Washington, this fine-dining establishment serves authentic Northern Italian cuisine made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
The first thing you notice when you enter Cafe Juanita is the warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is elegant yet understated, and the lighting is just right. The staff is friendly and attentive, without being overbearing.
The menu at Cafe Juanita is extensive, with a wide range of dishes to choose from. The starters are all delicious, but the standout dish for me was the burrata with roasted grapes and hazelnuts. It was creamy, sweet, and crunchy all at the same time, and the flavors complemented each other perfectly.
For the main course, I ordered the duck breast with sweet potato puree and pickled cherries. The duck was cooked to perfection - tender and juicy with a crispy skin - and the sweet potato puree added a lovely sweetness to the dish. The pickled cherries added a tangy, acidic note that cut through the richness of the duck.
The wine list at Cafe Juanita is also impressive, with a good selection of both local and international wines. The staff is knowledgeable about the wines and can help you choose the perfect pairing for your meal.
Overall, I would highly recommend Cafe Juanita to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch, and I can't wait to go back and try more dishes...
Read moreOne of our go to places for family gatherings and Filipino dishes. The design of the place is unique which for me is the reason why i gave it 5 stars. Great service with unique bells to call waiters. The place is filled with what could possibly be the owners collection from his travels around the globe. It gives a very mindful vibe, kinda nurturing for me... tells a lot of stories, also stimulates conversation. The food is excellent. It retains the original filipino flavors, but cooked in a yummier way. My reco is the crispy corned pork knuckle which for me is the best crispy pata ive ever tasted. The meat is the softest ive seen, while the skin is still very crispy and tasty. It has a bit of a reddish tinge from the corning process, actually makes it look more special than the regular crispy pata. They also have one of the best kare kares IMO, Unfortunately i could not reco any seafood because im allergic to crustaceans/shellfish. But im sure theyre also great. I wasnt able to take a pic of our dish coz "we hungry" and all i got was the dessert. Which is also recommendable. The cassava cake. Picture below. Always a good experience eating here, the only possible problem would be the parking. Reserve early and enjoy. Btw, if you have a bday celebrant with you, you can mention it to the waiter and they'll give a free slice of cake with a candle. Some kind of a soft meringue cake with some sweet milky caramel dip. Too sweet, not their...
