Great food, terrible service
I've been going here regularly for brunch, late-afternoon lunches and late-night breakfasts since it's near where I live. And I've often had to contend with its bad service.
The place is never lacking in servers, but sometimes you'll wonder how you're not getting any service because the servers tend to have their backs faced to the diners, either idly rearranging cutlery at the bussing station, chatting with the kitchen staff, or idling at the entrance away from the dining area.
Another common hurdle I have, when eating here, is getting my bill. Even when you ask for your bill, sometimes it slips past the server's head and you'll wait several minutes before asking again. Doubly so when you're waiting for your change. What I noticed is that the establishment tends to "forget" giving you your change, as well as your receipt, when you pay an exact or near-exact amount. I have had to practically beg for my bill, my receipt, and my change in the past by walking up to the cashier myself to transact.
What drove me to write this review today, is the fact that earlier, I watched the staff seat, wait, and complete the order of a party of nine, right after a server had taken my order. I had seated first and ordered first, yet had to spend the next twenty minutes watching the staff put an entire table ahead of me. Worse, when my simple Spam & eggs order arrived, I was given the wrong choice of eggs---I had asked for sunny-side up and the server had asked me this twice---yet they served me scrambled eggs. Unsurprisingly, I also had to follow up on my change and receipt twice before I headed out.
But hey, I'll keep coming back here because it's hard to beat the price, proximity, and 24/7 availability when...
Read moreLots of food variation in this place. Every dish they serve are your ordinary daily meal but with a twist and it everything is good. I really like the honey butter chicken and their chocnut champorado. Their rice serving was also Bountiful. One rice serving is like 2 rice serving from other food place. I tried Spanish sardines tempura and it was also good. The place is located in the back alley in the Mandaluyong and we went here for breakfast. Its kinda far from the place we stayed and we walk a lot from the heat of the sun coming from red planet. The walk was worth it by the way. The preparation and waiting time for the food is also not that too long about 10-15 mins. The place is also an Open air type and its kinda hot if you eat here in the Day although you can order from them by grab or food panda. I would like to try the other dishes next and try their at night when it is a little bit less warmer. If for breakfast its good to have it delivered. The place is also easy to find and its quite safe in the neighborhood. Their food place is near frankes wings. They also served good drinks such as coffee and juices with a twist. They also play good Filipino music while you eat. When we ate there they are playing parokya ni Edgar, Rivermaya, Eraserheads, Zack tabudlo, Arthur Nery etc. You will not get bored while waiting. We really enjoyed our stay here in Mandaluyong because of this food place. I would like to recommend this place for those who want a heartful breakfast or midnight meal after a long work or after drinking. I tried the chocnut champorado with dilis and it was also good for a...
Read moreBeen hearing a lot about how rude the crews are, but I simply don't pay any heed. This time, we finally experienced it first-hand. I wanna say first that personally, I've been promoting this resto to my friends coz I'm fond of their food. After this experience though, I don't think I'll ever be coming back.
There were lots of customers when we arrived, but we still managed to find a recently vacated table. We sat down and waited for it to be cleaned. A few minutes passed and none of the crews who were just walking around bothered to clean it up. One of our friends even started to pile up the plates and wipe the table, hoping one of the nearby crews will finish the job (heck, they do have a service charge for that reason!). When none approached, our friend brought the dirty dishes over to the counter. The crews were even hesitant to get those! Though a bit irritated, we still tried to wait patiently. We've been seated for like a little less than 10mins and we were not given the menu yet. We again called one of the crew's attention to ask for the menu and for the table to be fully cleaned. This time, a crew (a girl) grabbed one of the menus and slammed it on our table! Good job! Right then I asked my friends if they want to go to another resto since we could no longer stand the rudeness of the staff, so we all got up and left. I know that Kanto freestyle has a lot of customers, this may be the reason why the staff just don't bother to brush up on their customer service skills. What's a few disappointed customers, right? But if they keep that kind of attitude, their business will surely...
