Just like with our experience with Blake's Wings & Steaks SM North Edsa branch, you need a lot of patience to understand the reason people truly keep on coming back despite the long waiting lines - great food!
Pros: We ordered 24 pieces (1 kg. - P885) chicken wings in two flavors - salted egg and garlic parmesan, plus two dips - garlic ranch and honey mustard. Honestly, we didn't even need the dips as the chicken were flavorful enough, especially the salted egg, which is truly delicious! The flavors are not skin deep like other copycats that use powders to add flavors. You can tell that Blake's Wings are marinated properly so that the flavors get absorbed by the meat. The free fish crackers while waiting (for a long time) for your order to arrive. And we got three refills too including the amazing vinegar. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious and tasty Blake's Bacon Cheese Burger (P465) is. It was so juicy, balanced, and so memorable from the first bite. The side chips are ok, but some are a little burnt. I didn't care much for the Bird's Eye Carbonara pasta (P415), but my wife and son loved it. It was our first time seeing an uncooked egg yolk on a carbonara. We also ordered steak rice, which is also tasty, albeit a little oily and a steamed rice. Then, for dessert, we got the molten lava cake a la mode with its generous vanilla ice cream. It was ok, but I was a bit disappointed by the limited chocolate filling inside, making it unworthy of being called lava. Staff were all attentive and accommodating. If not for the long wait to be seated or to get food or to get a receipt, I would have given five stars for service.
Cons: Long wait! We were number 22 and waited, maybe 20-30 minutes just to be seated. Another 15 minutes to receive our food despite submitting the order form ahead of time. So bring a lot of patience. I don't know if they did it intentionally, but the tables looked worn out.
Tips: If you're not around when your number gets called, you will go back to the end of the line. Ask for free cracker refill, even for the vinegar. If you are bringing home your leftovers, they just use...
Read moreWalking around SM Fairview, looking for something new to try and came across Blake's. It was after 1230 on a Sunday so the peak time for lunch for people on Family day. We reserved seating for 2 and less than 15 minutes was seated inside what would be a poor description of a barn themed restaurant. Could be wrong. But that was the vibe I was getting. Food was somewhat preordered as before we were sat down so the wait for our orders didn't that long. We ordered Kani Salad, the 1/2 kg of Ranch wings and 1/2 kg of Ribs and spicy Salmon pasta. (See photo's). Got to say hands down. The best ribs I have had in a while. You may get alot of other restaurants that have the meat fall off the bone, but these we literally the best I have had in a while, and importantly there was no after taste of the marinade/meat that other places leave in your mouth when you leave. The wings were also alot better than anorher wings place also within SM Fairview. And we're very tasty. Salad was a good size and great start to the meal. The pasta was actually a good partner with the ranch wings, and it definitely packed a spicy kick go the stomach but was simple yet delicious. Service was good and they seemed to be on the ball meaning attentive which alot of people would appreciate. Definitely have to go back next time I am...
Read moreI decided to revisit Blake's after a long time, recalling the old pots and pans decor from my first visit. The place has changed a lot, but unfortunately, the food and service didn’t live up to expectations.
The carbonara was just average and became too heavy (‘umay’) after a few bites. The nachos had clumped cheese, which was disappointing. The tuyo pasta had a bit of a ‘malansa’ taste that could have been balanced with some lemon, but none was added. The Garlic Parmesan Wings were also underwhelming, with barely any dip sauce on a 500g serving, and the flavor was nothing special.
To make matters worse, the takeout experience was poorly handled. Only three of us were dining, so we couldn’t finish all four dishes. They just wrapped the leftovers in foil instead of using proper takeout containers, and by the time we got home, the nachos were already spoiled. Plus, the bill took forever to arrive, which was frustrating.
Overall, this experience wasn’t worth the money, and I don’t plan on...
