If you’ve ever roamed the streets of Manila in search of the perfect spot for comfort food that punches well above its weight, look no further than Kanto Freestyle. This unassuming eatery has carved a cult following for its ability to turn simple, all-day breakfast dishes into culinary masterpieces that are both accessible and undeniably delicious.
The Vibe
Kanto Freestyle is no-frills, but that’s part of its charm. The setup may be humble, with its casual seating and street-side energy, but the moment you take your first bite, you realize why people flock here at all hours. It’s where late-night cravings meet gourmet aspirations, without the pretentious price tag.
The Food
The menu reads like a love letter to Filipino cuisine, but with a twist that keeps you coming back. The Pandesal Eggs Benedict takes a Filipino breakfast staple to international levels, pairing fluffy pandesal with perfectly poached eggs and a rich hollandaise sauce. The Honey Garlic Chicken, with its crisp skin and sweet-savory glaze, is the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite to appreciate life.
But let’s talk about their DIY Breakfast Plates, a concept that puts you in control of your morning (or late-night) indulgence. You can mix and match from an array of Filipino classics like Tapa, Longganisa, or Bangus, paired with garlic rice and eggs cooked just how you like them. It’s a true freestyle experience that lives up to its name.
For dessert, the Deep-Fried Oreos are the ultimate guilty pleasure. Imagine Oreo cookies encased in a golden, crispy batter, drizzled with chocolate syrup—pure bliss.
The Experience
What sets Kanto Freestyle apart is the value it delivers. You walk away full, satisfied, and a little amazed that such quality and creativity come at such reasonable prices. The 24/7 availability also means you’re never too late (or too early) for a plate of comfort.
Final Thoughts
Kanto Freestyle doesn’t just serve food; it serves moments. Whether you’re nursing a hangover, catching up with friends, or just indulging in a solitary food adventure, this spot delivers every time. In a city bursting with culinary options, Kanto Freestyle stands out by staying true to its mission: great food, no pretense.
Would I go back? Without hesitation. Because at Kanto Freestyle, the best meals don’t just fill your stomach—they...
Read moreEmbarking on a virtual breakfast journey with Kanto Freestyle via Grab, our morning culinary escapade unfolded with a symphony of cravings catered by Spanish Sardines Tempura, Honey Garlic Chicken, Breaded Porkchop, and Adobo Flakes.
Adobo Flakes: A Culinary Crescendo The star of this breakfast sonata was undeniably the Adobo Flakes. An impeccable balance of shredded tenderness and fried perfection, these flakes serenaded the taste buds with a medley of well-rounded flavors. A testament to culinary finesse, the flakes neither erred on the side of toughness nor drowned in excessive saltiness, creating a harmonious culinary composition.
Sardines Tempura: Oceanic Overture The Sardines Tempura took center stage with an oceanic overture. While commendable, the experience remained within the bounds of satisfactory, not quite reaching the crescendo of exceptional seafood delights. The symphony was there, but perhaps a subtler harmony compared to the Adobo Flakes.
Porkchop and Chicken: A Slight Discord In the orchestration of flavors, the Breaded Porkchop and Honey Garlic Chicken introduced a subtle discord to the symphony. Both protein renditions exhibited a notable toughness that veered away from the anticipated succulence. Despite this hiccup, the portions demonstrated an impressive fair play, leaving room for redemption in subsequent movements.
Pancakes: A Duet of Density Concluding the culinary performance, the Pancakes delivered a duet of density. While the expectation for fluffiness wasn't entirely met, it's essential to consider the nuances of delivery. Pancakes, often best savored fresh from the kitchen, might have lost some of their ethereal lightness during transit.
Kanto Freestyle orchestrates a breakfast symphony that resonates with hits and misses. The Adobo Flakes steal the limelight with their perfect balance of texture and flavor, while the Sardines Tempura accompanies with a satisfactory maritime melody. The discordant notes arise from the tough textures of the Porkchop and Chicken, though the portioning remains commendable. Pancakes, though not achieving optimal fluffiness, maintain integrity during delivery, packed meticulously to preserve freshness. A breakfast encore awaits, as the culinary journey with Kanto Freestyle holds promise for...

Food: 5/5
I have nothing but compliments on their food. We ordered a variety of rice dishes and pancakes, and their beautiful presentation matches their taste.
If you like to taste their pancakes, I highly suggest trying out their Pancake Platter. It gives you an option to pick three toppings for the Pancakes. I highly recommend their Mixed Berries and Ube as the toppings. I didn't quite like the Oreo Cookie toppings.
Their food is really worth its price. You can enjoy a single meal with a drink with just a little over ₱200.
Drinks: 3/5
Their Kapeng Barako is good. However, given that this is an all-day breakfast place, I wish they have a wider selection of drinks and coffee.
Interior/Ambience: 3/5
The place has a second floor which has more tables for groups. The floor is greasy and slippery the morning we went. The interior design is nothing elegant, but their food and price makes up for it.
Restroom: 4/5
It's not dirty, but still okay. I'd like to give it a 3, but since their restroom has a functional bidet, that's a plus...
