Located in the heart of Tomas Morato, Sourdough Cafe brings a refreshing mix of cozy ambiance, well-crafted dishes, and a focus on freshly baked goods, particularly their signature sourdough bread. Here’s a full review of my experience:

Ambiance

Sourdough Cafe has a chic, industrial-style interior with warm lighting and wooden accents that create a laid-back, casual atmosphere. The large windows allow natural light to flood in during the day, making it an ideal place for a relaxed brunch. It’s spacious enough to accommodate groups but still maintains an intimate feel for quiet meals or coffee breaks.

Food

The menu has a well-rounded selection of comfort food, with an emphasis on their sourdough-based offerings. Some notable dishes include:

Sourdough Pizza: The pizza here is a standout. The crust is airy and chewy, with the slight tang of sourdough balancing the rich toppings. I tried the classic Margherita, and the fresh tomatoes and mozzarella were perfectly complemented by the sourdough base.

Sourdough French Toast: Another must-try. The slightly tart sourdough paired with the sweetness of the syrup and berries is a great combination for breakfast lovers.

Sourdough Sandwiches: The sandwiches are generously filled, with fresh ingredients and a delightful crunch from the toasted sourdough bread. The Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese sandwich was particularly delicious.

Service

The staff at Sourdough Cafe were attentive and friendly. Our server made great recommendations and checked on us regularly without being intrusive. The wait time for the food was reasonable, considering the quality and freshness of the dishes.

Price

For its location and the quality of food, Sourdough Cafe’s prices are reasonable. You can expect to spend around ₱400 to ₱700 per person, depending on what you order. Given the portion sizes and the care put into the food, it’s worth the price.

Overall Experience

Sourdough Cafe is a delightful spot in Tomas Morato for anyone who enjoys freshly baked bread and well-prepared comfort food. Whether you’re coming for a leisurely brunch, a coffee catch-up, or a satisfying meal, you’ll find something to enjoy. I highly recommend trying their sourdough dishes, which set them apart from other cafes in the area.

Would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a cozy café experience with...

I found it by accident after the Land Authority on google maps... It is worth a visit! We tried the Pastrami and the chicken Sandwich and a Steak & Rice plate, Cappuccino and finalize it with a 2 for one Aperol Spritz. The Sandwich are roasted, so you have a soft and tender content inside crunchy Sourdough bread slides: Great! Tasty! The Pastrami was already good, more than i expected, But the chicken was genius! With melted cheese: Great! They have only small bottles of sparkling water, and i was thirsty, so i need to spend a lot for 4 small bottles instead of one big: Could be improved. but they have also save filtered Water warm and cold for free, so that's fine. Coffee was ok. Our own cappuccino is better, but to ride an Airplane only for a coffee, the one from Sourdough Cafe+deli was a good replacement. The burned Cheese cake was also fine, just like in Germany. If you are Philippino, maybe you don't like it, because not sweet enough. But i love it, remembers me on home, just the right way. I was wondering about the wines... They have a lot of different good wines from Europe, not the typical xxx Tail rubbish. But this place is a brilliant coffee shop, nice bistro, but no nice place to sit down with friends and emptying a bottle of good wine and solving all the worlds problems in some minutes. The Secret: Go upstairs! You need to do anyway because the (very clean and nice) CR is there! Upstairs there is a perfect lounge/Bar feeling where you will not only empty one bottle of wine and not only solve one of the big problems. Very very nice, perfect for hanging around with friends for a night. And don't forget: It is also a bakery, you can buy a perfect (really perfect!) german style sourdough bread here, in different taste. This bread is so much better than my home made one, i got jealous! You can also buy some kind of Ham (Iberico, the best one) and cheese, but for a "More than the weight of Gold" price, so we limited our shopping experience. I exclude this amount from the "How much did you spend"... and we still spend a lot. The real good Aperol Spritz was also 450 Pesos, but 2 glasses... no wonder by this price :-) You get what you pay for, and you get very fine food and...

So first of all, we went for a late lunch, which means there's still dinner to go, and they're already out of 2 starters, every dish with prawn, and all the pizzas.

Salpicao - this was decent, choice cut of beef, good flavor, but for it's barely good for 1 at over 700php if you include the sc.

Pastrami baguette - the baguette was hard, the pastrami was so wet the bottom bread was soggy, generous serving pastrami which would've been awesome if it didn't taste of salt salt and more salt, and very little horseradish dressing our sauerkraut to balance things out.

Mushroom risotto - this was wetter than expected, with some pieces of rice all blown up from being overcooked. Also very little flavor to speak of, the cheese and truffle were very subtle, it was mostly mushroom.

Carbonara - again, this serving was barely good enough for one, the sauce was halfway between eggy and creamy, the pork not rendered enough, and there was some sour component i couldn't quite put my finger on.

Chocolate grande cake - this was some kind of opera cake like thing, and easily the best thing i had all night, and is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars.

Canale - this was a ripoff, the one we got was bitter because the outside was really burnt, and they charge per piece, but they don't tell you it's packed in 2s, so you technically have to order them in pairs. I was already regretting getting 1 pc, so i had double the regret when i figured i needed to eat another piece of burnt pastry.

Iced spanish latte and hot latte - standard coffee fare, not the burnt beans you get from Starbucks, but only marginally better than that.

Oh and if you have a senior in your party, rather than compute properly by dividing the meal into the number of your party, they'll pick 1 dish to discount,...
