Yakikai Unli Grill– Honest Review
I recently dined at Yakikai Unli Grill and tried their Crown Set, which includes premium meats and seafood alongside the regular samgyeopsal offerings. While the experience had its highlights, there were also inconsistencies that didn’t quite meet my expectations. Staff & Service – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
The staff were very friendly and attentive. They quickly fulfilled requests, making the dining experience smooth and hassle-free.
Dining Area & Ambience – ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)
Good ventilation: The place is not smoky, which is great for a samgyeopsal restaurant. Air conditioning issues: There are AC units, but the dining area still felt warm, not as cold as you’d expect, especially compared to samgyeopsal restaurants in malls.
Leakage during heavy rain: While dining, there was heavy rain outside, and water leaked from the walls into the dining area. I’m unsure if this was a one-time issue or a regular occurrence during storms, but it makes the place less ideal during the rainy season—it could get messy, wet, and uncomfortable.
Food & Serving Size – ⭐⭐⭐ (3.5/5)
In terms of portion size, I have no complaints—servings were generous, especially for the side dishes, pork samgyeopsal (plain and marinated), and shrimp for grilling.
I ordered the Crown Set, which included:
Regular samgyeopsal offerings
Spicy seafood platter with scallops, shrimp, baby octopus, crabs, and back ribs with cheese (but the back ribs were missing from my order)
Baby octopus issue: Based on the TikTok, Facebook food reviews, and vlogs, I expected to get a whole baby octopus with multiple tentacles. However, what I received was only two tentacles and a small portion of the head—not the full serving I was expecting. I’m not sure if this is the usual portion for weekdays (I dined on a Thursday), but it was disappointing.
Fresh scallops for grilling (these were good, and I was able to add cheese)
Salmon sashimi – Fresh, but too thinly sliced compared to what I expected
Oysters – They offer both fresh and baked oysters. I got the fresh ones, and they were really good—fresh and satisfying.
Premium Meats – ⭐⭐ (2/5)
I was excited about the prime beef steak and wagyu cubes, but they didn’t quite meet my expectations:
Prime beef steak: The ones I’ve seen in TikTok, Facebook food reviews, and vlogs looked about one inch thick, but what I got was very thinly sliced (even though it came in two portions). This made cooking tricky—you had to cook it very quickly, or it would turn chewy and tough.
Wagyu cubes: I don’t have prior experience with wagyu cubes, but these felt more like corned beef molded into cubes. Instead of holding their shape while cooking, they crumbled, which made me question if they were really authentic wagyu.
Side Dishes & Condiments – ⭐ (1/5)
Kimchi & fermented side dishes: The kimchi didn’t taste like kimchi—it lacked spice, and even the other fermented dishes didn’t have the authentic flavors they were supposed to have.
Cheese dip: This was too watery. Based on what I’ve seen in videos, the cheese dip should have been thick and creamy, but what I got seemed diluted, almost like it had been watered down.
Spicy tofu: This tasted spoiled. I’m not sure if it was meant to taste that way, but it had an unpleasant, sour “panis” (spoiled) flavor, which made it inedible for me.
Price & Value for Money – ⭐⭐ (2/5)
There was a pricing discrepancy in my bill. The menu listed the Crown Set at ₱799, but I was charged ₱899 instead. I’m not sure if the ₱799 price applies only to group diners, while solo diners like me pay the ₱899 regular rate, or if this was a pricing inconsistency. Either way, it...
Read moreWORST kbbq buffet I’ve had so far. we had the crown set (799/pp). lady who gave us the menu didn’t bother to explain anything, she only talks when you ask her, we felt that she’s unfriendly and unhelpful. there’s already pre-served raw meats in the side stacked together so you wouldn’t know what’s inside, lady didn’t bother to mention anything too, until I asked what’s in there.
after choosing the menu, all items (literally ALL listed) came to the table at the same time. same lady served and dropped everything not caring if there’s ample space on the table for diners to decently eat, she anyhow dropped all raw and cooked food together which we find very unhygienic, given the cross contamination. staff clearly didn’t care. i even asked her to slow down on dropping all the food since we don’t have anymore space, to the extent that she pass a plate on my hand waiting for me to figure out where to place it when there’s clearly no space at all!
furthermore, ALL of the cooked food served are stone cold and dry. wagyu beef cubes stinks and not fresh at all with weird processed meat texture and taste (this is the worst meat we had that day), clearly not even the lowest grade wagyu. tempura is cold and not served with sauce unless you ask for it, oysters not fresh, spicy seafood served cold and overly sweet, galbi zzim cold and tastes like sweet adobo. all banchan sucks and doesn’t look appetising at all! we asked for 2nd serving of tempura, still stone cold. only thing tasted decent was the salmon sashimi.
staff members are inattentive, but you will see them using their phones in one side and talking to each other. 1 staff even burped loudly that we heard from our table. soiled plates, soiled grills and leftover food was just placed in 2 big “planggana” which is 2 steps away from our table which is disgusting view while eating.
1 star for the sashimi + 1 star for this one and only 1 guy staff who is the only attentive staff, hence the 2 ⭐.
definitely not coming back and won’t recommend, worst kbbq! if you want to waste money and be disappointed,...
Read moreWe came here yesterday to celebrate a birthday — because we, like so many others, were seduced by the glitzy TikToks and perfectly edited Reels. You know, the ones that make it look like a heavenly all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ experience where side dishes overflow and service is flawless? Yeah. No. What those videos don’t show is what regular diners actually get: disappointment, confusion, and a strong urge to leave a review out of pure betrayal. We made a reservation for 7 adults. One person dines free for their birthday — sounds generous, right? Plot twist: the only thing free was the disappointment. We were seated at two tables, which already had “side dishes” waiting — if you can call a tablespoon of food in each tiny bowl a "dish." Honestly, I've seen more generous portions at airport lounges. We were 7 people… and somehow expected to share what looked like leftovers from another table’s appetizer plate. And the lettuce situation? Truly something to behold. Other tables — especially couples who clearly weren’t starving — were being lavishly served with full bowls of fresh lettuce they didn’t even touch. Just sitting there, untouched, wilting in peace. Meanwhile, our table of 7 adults had to practically beg for a few sad leaves like we were asking for gold, we sat there looking like extras in a dystopian food documentary, wondering if we had to write a formal request or offer a sacrifice to get some romaine. It quickly became clear: the viral content you see online? That’s a marketing performance. If you don’t come in with a DSLR, a tripod, and a blue checkmark, you’re getting the budget version — and I mean bare minimum budget. The food was mediocre at best, the portions were shockingly small, and the whole experience felt like a social experiment designed to see how far expectations can fall in a single meal. So here’s your warning: Do not trust the Reels. Do not trust the TikToks. Trust your gut — and take it somewhere else. Unless you're filming content for a million followers, lower your expectations below sea level, or better yet, just...
