Overpriced average food We visited this place during the Euro 2020 to watch the game with our friends. The first impression was that the prices do not correspond to the place - a regular pub, with craft beer, ok, but the prices of the high-end cuisine. We ordered beers, cocktails, tatar, lard starter, ribs and onion rings (there will be a separate story about them). It is worth noticing that in the menu there was no information about the weights of the meal you’ll receive. The tatars were ok, not the small ones, but pretty pricey. As for the ribs, they were 100% overpriced (62 zl for the portion per one person, really?), rather boiled than grilled, garnished mashed potato was rather plain. Though the cherry on the cake happened to be the onion rings. While seeing the 20zl price in the menu and knowing that onion is one of the cheapest products, it was logical to assume, that there will be a lot of them. Though when we were served 6 thin circles of onion, that was a time for a discussion. This is when we felt fooled by the restaurant - as if they are checking, if you are stupid enough to pay money for almost nothing. As for the drinks, the beer was ok, but nothing special. Cocktails were good. We definitely won’t come back again and I feel deeply disturbed that for my order of 2 small non-alcohol beers and average tatar I had to pay 70zl. Guys, pay attention to the quality and quantity of your food, pathos is...
Read moreBrovarnia Gdańsk is a must-visit spot during your time in the city. Situated along the Szafarnia waterfront, near the marina and the historic Crane, its location offers a scenic backdrop for dining. The interior, housed in a 17th-century granary, features wooden beams that contribute to a warm atmosphere. The restaurant brews its beers on-site, adhering to traditional methods that use only water, yeast, malt, and hops. This approach ensures fresh brews, with beers flowing directly from brewing containers to the taps at the bar. We sampled their light, dark, and wheat beers, each offering distinct flavors that complemented our meals. The menu showcases Polish cuisine, featuring dishes such as duck with potato dumplings and red cabbage, pierogi filled with Kashubian goose meat, and pork knuckle roasted in honey, served with apple purée. The use of locally sourced ingredients and in-house preparation methods, such as making jams and bread from scratch, highlight their commitment to quality. Live music events featuring blues bands or a female singer enrich the dining experience on weekends. While the cozy setting adds to the charm, it can become crowded and loud during peak hours. Despite this, the combination of location, house-brewed beers, and traditional food makes Brovarnia Gdańsk a memorable part of our visit, so much so that we visited it twice to...
Read moreI went to Brovarnia for a dinner with a group of 12 people. I called them upfront to verify if they would have any vegan options, because there weren't any in their menu, and I was assured that they will prepare something vegan for me. As I ordered I asked the waitress for what vegan they could do, and she proposed that they can cook risotto for me on oil rather than on butter and that it will be vegan. I was happy about it at first. But then when the food came in, I noticed that the risotto was generously sprinkled with parmesan. The waitress promised that they will make a new one for me, and she came back after a few minutes. To my astonishment, it was the very same plate, most parmesan removed but still with clearly visible multiple pieces of parmesan in it. I asked for a new dish, this time really vegan, and had to wait again. All my company were already finishing their food when I finally got mine. Without parmesan. The waitress said that this time it is fully vegan. But as I tasted it and looked at it, I was absolutely sure it was cooked on butter, not vegetable oil. The waitress claimed that it was butter, but only peanut butter. There was not even slightest scent of peanuts in it. If you or anyone in your company are vegan, don't ever visit this place, unless you want to be fooled...
