Restauracja Amare Gusto — Restaurant in Gdansk

The staff at this restaurant will call the police on their guests before they admit to their own mistakes.

By far the worst restaurant service I have ever experienced. Twice they managed to serve the wrong dish to one guest at our table. After more than an hour we realized they had not started making what our friend initially ordered, and he got up and left in frustration, deciding to eat elsewhere. When they finally brought hit meal, around 90 minutes after it had been ordered, and long after the rest of us were finished eating, the staff did not accept the fact that the food was no longer wanted or needed. When we explained this they rudely placed it at our table and said they would call the police if we did not pay for it. They then locked the restaurant doors and called the police, who sorted things out and made sure we could leave without having to pay for the late food.

Completely astonished to experience such complete lack of service, friendliness and manners at a place who so desperately needs satisfied customers to survive. I strongly advice to avoid this restaurant and chose somewhere else for your meals in Gdansk. Luckily there are many great places to choose from, no need to visit the one place who will rather call the police on their customers than admit to their mistakes.

The restaurant was not very busy when we visited. Regardless we had to ask twice when someone wanted another drink. The staff was busy talking and laughing in the back room and obviously found their own conversations more important than their guests.

If you insist on eating here, choose the pizza and avoid the pasta - chances are good you’ll make better pasta at home. Chances are great you’ll find better pasta elsewhere. My best advice is to avoid Amare Gusto at all cost, we will never return...

Incompetent servers and or chef

Sat for 30minutes before we got service, which we had to call for ourselves. Waited another hour before the food came, and the tables beside us who sat down 20min later got to order and got their food before. Ordered 1 drink for each in the company, got all except one which they forgot which we asked for and never received as well as 2 smaller sizes of beer compared to what was ordered. They then tried to charge us for the missing drinks and wrong size beer

Update to respond to the owners reply. When we arrived the waiter told us to take the seats out in the sun. This in addition to that people got their orders when they arrived 40min later is a sign of incompetency when we have abided by their rules(waiting to take a seat). The beer ordered was 0.5L, the beer received was 0.4L, not a big difference but still a scummy thing to try to...

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was a very negative experience. The staff seemed completely uninterested – nobody cared if we had everything we needed, and every dish or drink was literally dropped on the table without a smile or a word, just so the waiter could leave as quickly as possible.

The food itself was even more disappointing. Considering the prices, we expected a certain standard, but the dishes looked more like something from a school cafeteria – unappealing and average in taste, definitely not worth the high cost.

The only positive was the friendly hostess at the entrance, who seated us and was the only one who seemed pleasant.

The absolute peak of unprofessionalism, however, was when they rewrote the bill themselves, adding 10% on top – without asking if we wanted to leave a tip. This is unacceptable.
