This beautifully located restaurant was my favorite 45 years ago. It has a great history, and it brings many of my childhood memories. My parents used to deliver their handcrafted shoes to the local store on Florianska, and often, we would go for kremowka at this very spot. My dad was a shoemaker, so I definitely know what good customer service means to a client. Now, all that has changed. It has terrible service. As a culinary expert who mentored students from the hospitality college for most of my professional career, I would like to give this location below ZERO mark. I was looking forward to having a kremowka. In fact, I have been looking forward for the last 4 years. After crossing the ocean, driving for 5 hours, finally we arrived in Krakow to my beloved cukiernia. My hubby and I walked inside of the cafe to admire this beautifully designed historic building. We asked if we could have our favorite dessert, and the hostess who was chatting with another worker told us to leave the restaurant and wait outside for the waiter. I was fine with that, no problem. So we sat down, and we continued admiring this charming and energizing Krakow. Time was passing by, and nobody came to serve us. I observed a male waiter having a cigarette outside and having a good chat with his colleagues. I went back to make a complaint and the same hostess told me that we will be served soon. She herself was just standing there doing nothing. What a shame. We just got up and left being not only disappointed but also brokenhearted. There is a saying, " It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently." I don't recommend this location. In fact, I warn you not to waste your valuable time and your money in this poorly run...
Read moreWhat a find this place is! People take holidays for different reasons, ours was to relax, explore a new city and to take in the sights and sounds of Krakov. We have not been disappointed. There is no nicer way to end the day than sitting in one of the many lovely restaurants which can be found in the main square of the old town. This cafe was absolutely delightful. The interior decor is like something from a film set of a bygone era. Ceilings and walls painted with stunning art nouveau decorations, tables and chairs creating a sense of opulence with mirrors decorating the walls and adding light and glamour to this gem of a find. For those preferring to sit outside, a covered terrace offers comfortable, elegant seating, ideal for people-watching, whilst offering shelter from both the sun and the rain. Extending further into the reaches of the square are tables and chairs for those who prefer to soak up the atmosphere of people ambling around them. The staff were all very pleasant, helpful and efficient. It was so nice to be greeted with a smile and being told that they hoped we would enjoy our meal. Our meal was soon served and attractively presented. The portions were plentiful and we did not consider our visit at all unreasonably priced. The total cost for 2 cocktails, 2 delicious salads and 2 amazing icecream sundaes was 180 pln, which equates to £40. Well worth leaving an additional tip for great service. The cloakrooms were clean and easily found downstairs. The doors were left open so there was no need to search for small change. This cafe is enchanting. Classy, elegant and an absolute must for those looking for somewhere completely unique. We will definitely recommend it to everyone...
Read moreIf I could, I would put 0 stars. It was the only HORRIBLE experience in a lovely weekend. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. Where to begin? We picked it at random because they had a sunny space outside. We never checked the reviews unfortunately. First, they didn't offer any plates for kids. Fair enough, we ordered water for the table, dumplings, a camembert and a cheese pancake for our daughter. They took 30 minutes to give us the food. When they gave us the food, we noticed that we didn't get dumplings, we got some sort of soup. We then told the waiter about it and he insisted this was a ver good dish and that the dumplings would take another 15mins. At the same time we had to remind the waiter that we still didn't get our water. The soup wasn't nice, the camembert was ok but the pancakes were cheese and raisins inside and cream and chocolate outside. What kind of pancake is that??? When we asked for the bill, we said we wouldn't pay for the soup as it was not what we wanted. The waiter said we had to pay it anyway because we ate it although he never gave us a choice. We asked for his name and he wouldn't give it. Then, my husband went inside to talk to a manager and there wasn't a manager. We then tried to pay by card and the waiter said "I told you it was cash only" very rudely although we were definitely never told. We left very cross with the place and with ourselves for...
