Waiters are friendly, interior is good. Location in the middle of Kazimierz also. But the food..
Good stuff: Tatar was great. Profiterole with liquid chocolate is a dream of a dessert.
OK stuff: Bread with butter + truffle. Fish croquette.
Bad stuff: Zapiekanka absolutely overhyped and does not offer anything better than the one outside of the window offered at 1/3 of the price Burger has been waiting a while for chips which were not only made in bad oil but also were put into a cold oil (our assumption was that they made the burger first and then forgot that the side is still missing) meaning they were soggy and fatty. Everything on that plate was mediocre to say the least. Wine did not match the expectations and we assume the bottle was already open since a while. There is no craft beer but just Zywiec, this will become a red flag for me from now on. Not because I am a craft beer fanatic, but because every restaurant which cares for taste will have some alternative to the factory made brew. You are simply going shortcuts selling industry made beer for premium price without consideration of what is best for the customer. Waiters were friendly but not even once asked us if everything was OK with the food. I would have shared some of this feedback directly but you need to reach out to the customer to make the experience great, not the other way round.
But the worst is how much they charge for all of this. Sure, this is a fancy restaurant. Sure, the location is great. The interior is superb. The service is fine. But the taste doesn't match the 75€ we paid for not even an hour of dining. We didn't even order that much. In my opinion, this restaurant is heavily overpriced and the kitchen is not up to the standard of Michelin recommendation. I will not return again and will not recommend this to anybody. There are much better ones just around the corner, where you see an absolute passion for wine, food and service. Even the price is lower and you will go out without a feeling of...
Read moreIt was a total un-Michelin disaster!!!
We booked a table at this restaurant for a special restaurant birthday event 2 weeks in advance, but were seated at a dirty, SMELLY table with FOOD SCRAPS on the wall. I should have taken a photo, but they put other people at that same table right away. After our complaint, we were moved to another spot or offered a seat at the bar. At a new spot we had to MOVE the table, because the waiters were almost bumping into my partner’s back!! The air conditioning in the room where we were moved was right at us, and we had to ask 2 TIMES to change it.
The waiter spilled wine on the table while pouring and didn’t clean it up for the next 2 courses. We waited half an hour each time between dishes, which was extremely inconvenient. We ordered extra bread, which was ADDED to the bill in the end but NEVER brought to us!!
While eating the main dish, there was so little space on the table, that I accidentally knocked over a glass of wine. The waiter helped to clean the table and asked what wine I had, even helped me with clues because I didn’t remember exact name. I thought it means they want to pour another glass, but nothing happened after that (?).
I BURNED MY FINGERS on the lid of a tea cup, which couldn’t be removed any other way, and the cup itself was served in a plate full of WATER. During evening, the waiters constantly got confused and addressed us in English and Polish, even though we spoke to them only in Polish from the beginning.
We were repeat customers and were VERY pleased with the Valentine’s Day event half a year ago, even recommending the restaurant to our friends. However, after this visit, we will NOT RETURN. The restaurant was recently added to the Michelin list, but the quality of service and food has dropped...
Read moreThe food was very tasty, well prepared using excellent quality ingredients... but the value for money just wasn't there, and so the overall experience was disappointing. My partner and I were not even particularly hungry before our dinner at Folga, yet even with that, we found the portions way too small and much more suitable for a tasting menu than for what was supposed to be a regular dinner menu. We have both ordered a starter and a main each. My main (three small ravioli) was in fact about the same amount of food as my starter (ceviche). We ended up paying 500zl plus tip for two starters, two tiny mains, and a bottle of wine that we ended up following immediately with a pizza elsewhere to kill the hunger. You can eat proper amounts of equally well prepared food elsewhere for less - not just in Krakow, but even in generally much more expensive cities like London.
Finally - charging 20zl for a bottle of water imported from Italy? Unnecessary pretenciousness, unnecessary mileage, and just an outrageous price for a basic addition to the meal since you're already charging your clients for food and wine. Tap water, as well as one of the many excellent mineral waters produced locally in Poland would have been perfectly fine.
EDIT - Response to Owner's comment:
I'm afraid your response did not address any of the major points from my review. Ultimately, if your customers leave your restaurant hungry having eaten what you called a starter dish and a main dish, then you have failed as a restaurant. After all, people generally intend to come to a restaurant feeling hungry and leave it not feeling hungry. It's that simple. I don't mind paying a premium for good quality food, but please don't sell starter / tapas sized dishes as main dishes, as this is...
