This is a nice little restaurant at the edge of the Jewish Quarter. We went twice, as it was close to our hotel. Food is good and the staff are friendly. It is advisable to book at least 24 hours in advance because it is popular. They serve traditional local dishes like pork knuckle, roasted and served with mustard, horseradish and braised cabbage ( the photo is shown without the mustard, horseradish and cabbage as my husband doesn't like them - they were happy to substitute vegetables). I had salmon, which was delicious- proper, meaty and (I assume) wild, given its colour, texture and flavour. I also had the rabbit with mustard sauce which, although nice and tender, was a little overwhelmed by the mustardiness of the sauce. My husband had the pork loin which comes with roast potatoes and honeyed citrus carrots. He enjoyed it. We had the pickled herring and beetroot starter and the pierogi, which were the vegetarian ones with feta, spinach, potato and sundried tomatoes in various combinations. Ok if you like that kind of thing, and you have to try the local speciality but I found them a bit flabby and would have preferred them deep fried. They always give you something called smalec which appears to be a combination of bacon, onions, pork fat and seasoning. Tastes like very greasy cold stuffing - not to my taste but my husband liked it. You also get small tasters of their home made apple and cinnamon vodka at the end...

Food: the price is normal for a restaurant taste wise it was not that bad thats why I gave it three stars, it lacks creativeness, seasoning and presentation sometimes I ordered the trout for myself, the fish never goes wrong but the choice of bulgur and red sauce with trout made it taste very bad since it doesn't blend well together with the fish, I believe if it was plain fish fillet with some lemon and salt it could've tasted better, however I finished my plate and was satisfied. about the sizes of dishes served in this restaurant, it will never disappoint you because they are big enough for someone who is 2 meters tall, so its good for all ;)

Service and atmosphere: the service was excellent that I think it made it very nice for us to spend our time there, it made us feel welcomed and happy about our choice. The waitresses there are kind and helpful, they will be presenting everything with a laugh and pure heart. Thank you for having such a great work attitude. the atmosphere is cozy and makes you feel like you are in an old town bar with all the nice landscapes and paintings.

At the end no restaurant is set to the perfect parameter and we should resect everyone's taste and view. Thank you for reading my review, hope...

Arrived in Krakow after 7hrs train ride. Looked up places to eat near me & came across Old Town restaurant & bar. It's close by and the reviews were good.

Wow. So glad we did!! We had what my husband called an "exceptional " meal. Pierogi as starters. We shared 4 x deliciously ight tender morsels of spinach or potato filled pierogi served with sour cream. A great start!

Our dinner of pork belly & the duck breast were beautifully presented on massive plates. The duck breast was perfectly cooked. Rested on a bed of sweet potato mash. Served with carrots & beans. Deliciously tender thick slices of duck breast. Moist & oh so tasty!

My husband's meal of pork Belly..well he wouldn't stop talking about it all night. Served with buttermilk foam, potato pie, mushroom. A big juicy, moist & tender piece of pork belly on a crispy potato pie. Best meal all week since the start of our European vacation!

So much food, we didn't hve room for dessert.

Thank you for your fabulous polish food & attentive service. We hope to hve another meal there before we leave!!

Great value for money for exceptional food & service. Thank you for making our first meal in Krakow a...

This place is a true finding if you wish to try local polish cuisine. It is located in the vicinity of the Old Town, hence the name. When we came, we didn’t have a reservation, but fortunately there was a table for two unoccupied at the moment. The ambient is great and the staff is extremely helpful and fluent in english. While waiting for the zurek soup we recieved an apatizer made of onion, cream and paprika. It was a really nice surprise. The soup was excellent. I have been reading about this kind of soup and always wanted to try it - finally I tried it here and totally loved it. For the main course we ordered chicken breast with potatoes, broccoli and carrot in butter an lemon sauce. The breast was excellent. It was big, tasty and it smelled amazing. Broccoli on the other hand was a bit hard and the potato was unsalted, while the butter sauce seamed heavy. However, that’s obviously how the folks here eat their food so I respect that. The dinner was concluded with a shot on the house, which was great and a nice touch. I definately would recommend this place.

We visited because it was reported to be safe for celiacs - and it was! The waitstaff understood what celiac disease was, pointed out everything on the menu that could be made gluten-free (most of it), and reported that each dish was gluten-free as it was placed on the table. They even provided gluten-free bread with the complimentary starter. The menu was fairly traditional Polish. I had a large salad and Erik had a burger and fries (which can be made gluten-free). We shared a bottle of still water and each had a lemonade with our entrees. The lemonades were on the sour side, which I prefer. We finished with cappuccinos and dessert: Erik had a whiskey chocolate mousse (gluten-free) and I had the crustless raspberry cheesecake (gluten-free). The food and service were excellent, the atmosphere was charming, the tables were well spaced, the WC was clean and the music was just the right volume.
