If Kafka opened a brunch bar in Kraków, this would be it.
Stumbled into Pierwszy Lokal like Alice down the rabbit hole, except instead of a Mad Hatter, we got a barista who makes a latte so smooth it could negotiate peace treaties. The lemonade, tart enough to slap you awake, sweet enough to make you forgive it, a citrus paradox in a glass.
Now let’s talk food. The ham omelette was a fluffy, protein-packed hug from someone who knows you’ve had a long week, and the bagel with ham, let’s just say if bagels had Tinder profiles, this one would be a superlike. Toasted just right, ham that whispers “I’m worth it,” and a vibe that says “we don’t do boring here.” Bonus points for the side salad, which came dressed like it had somewhere fabulous to be — fresh, zesty, and not just a garnish afterthought.
The interior is a glorious mashup of cinema nostalgia, moody lighting, and the kind of music that makes you question your Spotify choices. The music was chill, the kind that makes you want to linger and pretend you’re writing a novel. It’s got that “Kazimierz pub meets underground art gallery” energy, slightly chaotic, deeply charming, and somehow exactly what you needed.
Service, like your favorite bartender who remembers your name but not your secrets. Friendly, fast, and just the right amount of sass.
Only drawback? The smoking section smack in the middle, which means cigarette smoke occasionally wafts into the non-smoking areas like an uninvited guest at brunch. A bit of a mood killer if you’re trying to taste your latte without a side of Marlboro.
Would I come back? Already planning my next existential brunch here, Would I recommend it? Only to people with taste...
Read moreI went to Kraków last week to visit family. We came across this bar which serves amazing beer at very reasonable prices. The decor and atmosphere is lovely and it was especially nice to be able to smoke indoors. However, the bar staff were incredibly rude and unpleasant. I am learning Polish but it's not perfect and I got a few words wrong and the bar tender (brown hair, mullet) laughed and tutted at me in an incredibly unfriendly way. I kept trying to speak in Polish and he didn't respond and told me to go. I was very polite to the other staff there but was treated equally as rudely. I went back the next night thinking it might have been a bad night for them but was treated with the same disdain. I found it really upsetting and its ruined part of my...
Read moreSurprised this place has such a high score. Maybe it's good to just drink something, if you're lucky barista is in a good mood when you come, but it's definitely not the best place for a breakfast. Some options are just dried in an oven bread with some butter and honey aside (not even toasted just dried in an oven) - something you have for breakfast at home when you have nothing in hand. But the most disappointing thing is that a girl at the bar was rude like your presence at this place was offending her. We couldn't believe it was real. Haven't ever met this rude service in 5...
