I visited this restaurant three times during my stay — twice for dinner and once for breakfast.
The food was consistently good: tasty, well-seasoned, and nicely presented (photos). The atmosphere is also pleasant and comfortable (the piano as well).
Service during breakfast was excellent (which is provided by the hotel/apartment i stayed through a “coin” that we can exchange in the restaurant). The first dinner was also very good in general, a young woman and a blond young man were very helpful, explaining how the restaurant works and how to use the hotel’s meal vouchers.
However, my last dinner experience on 18/04 was disappointing. The waiter that night (dark hair, unfortunately I didn’t get his name) seemed very stressed and impatient. He didn’t take the time to explain what was included in the meals and reacted with frustration when asked questions.
When I asked for the bill and mentioned I’d use the hotel voucher, he became visibly upset and said I couldn’t use it anymore, insisting I had to pay by card or cash. I explained I had used it during previous visits and that it was my last day in the city, so I’d lose the voucher otherwise.
He sighed again, walked away, and tore up the bill while saying something to other staff. Then he came back with the corrected check, applying the voucher — acting as if nothing had happened.
It’s a shame that a restaurant with such good food and ambiance has staff who lack...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining here three times during my stay in Kraków, and each time, I was incredibly impressed by the food - and the service!
The team at Restauracja Smakołyki is wonderful and welcoming. I was lucky to be served twice by the lovely Emilia (forgive me if I have spelt your name incorrectly), who was incredibly kind and helpful. She also speaks English very well (which does help visitors to this beautiful city). The same can also be said for Maciek and the young gentleman who served me on my first night, who I believe was called Damian. Thank you all - you made me feel at home in your spectacular city!
The food was tasty, and I have to recommend to everybody that visits - please do try the desserts!!! I'm not entirely sure about the names of each dish (these were the "desserts of the day"), but you can see from the pictures the type of dessert that is on offer. Some of the best desserts that I have ever tasted - and thank you to Emelia again for the recommendation! The hot chocolate is also delicious!
5/5 for service and food, and I sincerely hope to return again soon!
Edit: I forgot to add that the piano music (which, I believe is from 6pm), with the candles and flowers, makes for a remarkably...
Read moreWe’ve been there week ago in a group of 4, between 11-12h. At first, we had to wait about 10-15 minutes to be seated despite half empy restaurant and two staff members who werent paying attention if someone new entered the restaurant. But ok. After we took seats and made an order, we waited another 10 minutes for coffee and tea. Our seats were upstairs so I could look down to the bar where none was preparing our order for the whole time (if talking to each other doesnt mean preparing customers order…). About food… I tried only eggs with bread (because we changed our minds after experience with waiting and wanted to go somewhere else), so not something special but without problem and almost faster than drinks. The staff looked very bored and unwilling. I was disappointed because I read many positive reviews. But as a person who is working in gastro almost for 10 years I...
