This was truly a wonderful experience, from the moment we walked in, to the moment we walked, out we felt transported to another era, of elegance and charm. We went twice for dinner. Once at the beginning of our holiday in early June with 12 of us and once at the end just earlier this week with 8 of us (from Japan, Australia, Germany & Algeria). Both nights were exceptional. The food was delicious, Polish & elegant. We ate the steak tartare, the herring, the duck, the dumplings, the crumbed chop, the beef, some sides, the cheese cake and the crepe sucette. All meals were delicious and refined. The drinks also. The staff were wonderful and knowledgeable and provided attentive service to us all - from my youngest (10year old) to our most mature & seasoned foodie. We loved the atmosphere and the attention to detail. From the elegant plates to the tartare & crepes made at the table. The music trio with the trumpet player & Polish jazz songs were an extra wonderful touch- unexpected for a Monday night, which made it all the more memorable for all of us. We will definitely be coming back next time we’re in Poland. Bxx

Walked in for Sunday lunch and was happy to get a table although was told I only had 1 hour to dine. Asked the server (who was giving off a snobby vibe) for recommendations and got the seasonal mushrooms and potato dumplings in truffle sauce for starter and the beef rib for main. Both were very good, but both dishes had mushrooms and potato dumplings. I wished the waiter took that into account and not just recommended the more expensive items on the menu. When I got the bill, I was surprised to see a 19plz charge for 50cl of normal water. Wow. When I asked the pretentious server if this was normal in Poland, he was frowning and said yes in a way that made me feel unintelligent for asking such a question. The same server also asked if I wanted the tip to be included in the credit card. I would’ve left something if he was more tactful and less snobby. I must note that the gentleman by the door was friendly. Would’ve given a higher rating if not for the service.

U Wieniawy is a rare gem in Warsaw—a restaurant that seamlessly blends rich Polish history with exceptional cuisine. Steeped in the traditions of the pre–World War II officer class, it offers a unique atmosphere filled with period décor, vintage military memorabilia, and the warm sounds of 1930s Poland. The food is classic Polish fare done right: hearty, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Dishes like duck confit, steak tartare, and handmade pierogi are standouts. What truly sets U Wieniawy apart is the attention to detail—especially the subzero vodka service, delivered just as Polish officers once enjoyed it. Service is gracious and informed, surrounded by fascinating pictures and stories from the interwar years. Whether you’re a history lover or simply in search of an unforgettable meal, U Wieniawy delivers a nostalgic, soulful dining experience you won’t find anywhere else in the city. A must-visit in Warsaw.

U Wieniawy is a charming restaurant that takes inspiration from the unique atmosphere of prewar Warsaw. This hidden gem offers a truly authentic experience where you can indulge in traditional Polish dishes that leave a lasting impression.

The menu at U Wieniawy is a treasure trove of traditional Polish delicacies, each dish crafted with utmost care and attention to detail. The goose leg with Silesian dumplings was an absolute feast for the senses. The succulent meat, cooked to perfection, was tender and bursting with flavor. Paired with the heavenly Silesian dumplings, it was a match made in culinary heaven.

Another standout dish was the lamb hip with spinach and dumplings. The carefully prepared lamb hip was melt-in-your-mouth tender, offering a rich and satisfying experience. The accompanying spinach added a delightful freshness, while the dumplings provided a comforting and authentic touch.

No visit to U Wieniawy would be complete without savoring their incredible half a duck with dumplings. The duck, with its crispy skin and succulent meat, was an absolute delight. It was a symphony of flavors that made for a truly unforgettable dining experience.

Herring enthusiasts will be delighted with the herring dishes offered at U Wieniawy. The herring with pickled onion and baked potatoes was a revelation. The tangy and vibrant pickled onions perfectly complemented the rich and savory herring, while the baked potatoes added a comforting element to the dish. Equally amazing was the herring with mushrooms, which provided a delightful twist to the traditional flavors, with the earthy mushrooms enhancing the overall taste experience.

At U Wieniawy, the dedication to high quality and exceptional taste is evident. Each dish is a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs and their commitment to delivering an outstanding dining experience.

To further enhance the overall experience, the attentive and friendly staff at U Wieniawy provide exceptional service. They are knowledgeable about the menu and are always willing to offer suggestions and recommendations, ensuring your dining experience is personalized and memorable.

In conclusion, U Wieniawy is a restaurant that has truly mastered the art of traditional Polish cuisine. The exquisite dishes, from the heavenly goose leg and Silesian dumplings to the mouthwatering lamb hip with spinach and dumplings, are a testament to the restaurant's dedication to exceptional quality and taste. The warm and inviting ambiance, combined with the attentive service, guarantees a remarkable dining experience that will leave you craving more. Whether you're a local or a traveler, U Wieniawy is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Poland's culinary delights. We highly...

Luxury without generosity is not luxury, you know? That’s why you can notice both in one of the most well-known restaurants in Warsaw. Luxury can be seen in the beauty of the place itself – short distance to the National Theatre offers a wonderful pre- and post-theatre meal or drink. You can also enjoy soft chairs, well-balanced colours, Polish music of the pre-war, variety of liquers in demijohns, or nicely preserved old furniture (not to forget the grandfather’s clock or woollen carpet). The subtle touch to this amazing interior was the waiter whose service can be judged at the highest level possible. But, let’s be generous! The food reminds us of what Poland was between the wars (i.e. 1918-1939). We can smoothly move back one hundred years ago. That was the time when the patron of the restaurant lived and enjoyed his life in a reborn independent country. You can try delicious starters with a shot of homemade vodka. Dinners include excellent duck on plums or mouth-watering pumpkin pancakes. But! The most surprising for me was a dessert – a kissel which I considered to be an ordinary dish. This time it dumbfounded me! I could taste an amazing flavour of freshly picked Polish fruits. The juice was hidden in a smooth jelly liquid made from thickening kompot (fruit drink) with potato starch, however, I could bite whole fruits of cherries or blueberries just inbetween. Top of the top – there was also a scoop of halva parfait huddling on the right side of the bowl. Its sweetness excellently contrasted with sour fruity flavour. I finished my stay at Wieniawa with a decision...
