Over rated, disappointment.
TL:DR: Looks fancy, pretty expensive, but not great food and electric pizza oven.
Appetizer: Hummus— comes out with decent portion of hummus but just one piece of pita and a bread basket. Our table of three split the one sacred pita and moved on to the meh bread basket. The hummus was amateur level: all chick pea, lacking tahini paste and garlic. In short, bland.
About 1/3 of the menu is pizza but they are using an electric pizza oven, way below standard for Wrocław, a city with plenty of wood fired pizza ovens.
Service was OK, nothing special. At one point the waiter came with the main course after not clearing the table of appetizers and looked at us like "hey where should I put this stuff?" You can find places with very nice service elsewhere in the city.
At one point the manager rudely informed me that the water jug I was using at the bar was for "wait staff only". This was my fault, there was a sign (only in Polish). But it is your job after all to make customers happy and at least try to be pleasant. The idea of segregating water in the first place is a little cheapy. At least don't put it on top of the bar in the middle of the whole place. But this is how places like this squeeze you for an extra 7 zł for a 300ml bottle of water—cebulaki.
Feels like a typical case of someone throwing money at a restaurant because it will make money but not putting any love into it. Choice of management serves as a nice metaphor for the restaurant: just because you dress someone up in a cheap polyester pants suit from H&M doesn't mean they are any good at what they are doing. This place may look nice but it's a pig with makeup is still a pig.
Super dark and creepy bathrooms, was waiting for Batman...
Read moreI had literally to write my first Google review ever to stress how bad my experience with Orzo in Wroclaw was. Tourists (from Italy), on our second day ever in Poland. Couple of hours ago, sudden crazy strong rain, like another (Polish?) family we take repair on their unused dehors. A family, with my elderly mother and one 5 year old. Not sitting, not close to their entrance, not bothering anyone. The waitress comes out and asks if we plan to eat in their restaurant (entrance is 20 meters away, she made an effort to come out in the downpour to ask us). When I say no, as we are just a stranded family of tourists waiting fornthe rain to become a bit lighter and leave, she tells me we are ‘on our property’. Literally. I told her that in decades of travel in many countries I have never seen such a needless act of lack of hospitality. Which I swear is true, can’t recall anything like this. We walked off in the rain soaked from head to toe and the anger after hours is still strong. My wife wants literaly never to come back to Poland. Although the city looks lovely and we had an overall good experience, expect some major, major culture shock and don’t give any basic human kindness behaviour for granted. Not at Orzo’s. As for the Italian sounding name, the place has nothing authentically Italian about it, certainly no trace of Italian (or Polish)...
Read moreRestaurant Week Review (Listopada) Fantastic dining experience, great food, great flavours, great atmosphere and great service!
Appetizer: ORZOSHI (vegetable tempura roll) Beautiful dish, very light and very delicious. This was a fantastic little starter with big flavours that work so well together, This was such a fantastic twist on your standard sushi by using the orzo noodles instead of rice, really great!
Main course: CONFIT DUCK duck leg with confit with sweet potato puree. Another fantastic dish, I might be biased as I love duck! This duck was cooked perfectly, so tender and juicy with a slightly crisp skin that gave an amazing flavour. The sweet potato puree along with the kale and beetroot bought the whole dish together.
Dessert: ORZO CREMA CATALANA (traditional Catalan dessert) This dessert was like a kind of creme brulee with a caramelized shell on top with a creamy, rich and zesty orange filling, simply delicious!
I loved the atmosphere in this place, chilled yet upbeat, good music, overall a really good vibe.
Also got to mention the cocktails here, absolutely fantastic, top tier! Amazing flavours and combo's.
Highly recommend this place and...
