I have been drinking and eating in Chopper Bar & Grill for more than ten years now. Located in a quiet street just off the market square, it has a large number of outside tables, plenty of seating inside (though a lot of this is benches) plus a cellar.
It has always been an excellent place to grab a tasty beer – which you can buy by the half-litre or litre – and reasonable-value food. Portions are always very large with lots of salad included in the price. The service is always excellent and the atmosphere relaxed.
The main reason I haven't awarded it five stars is that some dishes have seen a substantial price increase recently. For example, fried cheese has increased from around 28 zloty to more than 40 zloty - a 40+% increase. Other dishes are also noticeably more expensive.
One other thing I noticed after dining there recently – the Aberdeen Angus steak used to come with lots of super tasty vegetables (including green beans) in a fantastic Jack Daniels sauce, plus roast potatoes. Now it just comes with rather tasteless roast peppers and a few chips. Considering it is 25% more expensive than two or three years ago, it was somewhat disappointing. Why serve the best steak with tasteless vegetables? It makes no sense.
Last time we were there for Saturday lunch, it wasn't so busy. The higher prices could be a reason why, although it is still good value compared to some of the tourist traps in the market square.
Overall, if you want a large portion of food for a decent price, come here. Just be aware that the steak isn't well complimented by...
Read moreWe have been to this place thanks to Google maps review, which looked great. We got just a very big main course, that was a huge bowl of meet (sausages, chicken wings, ribs ecc) with a lot of French fries and salad as side dishes, and some sauce (horseradish, garlic, mustard and one more that I don't remember). The weitres bring the met on a wooden board while there is a flambe on the meet. tWe also got 7/8 shot of wodka, 1l of water and 1l of lemonade. Total price kinda of 70 euro. The wodka was great, the meet was good and everything was enough for 6 people. The atmosphere was quite cool, a lot of people, a bit chaotic ( like people singing happy birthday) with a positive connotation, feeling the culture of people enjoying the night drinking together. The total price was a bit below 70 euro. So, if you are looking for a happy place, where to feel polish culture, relatively cheap and close to the city center,...
Read moreUpdate: Chopper is still one of most climatic restaurants I've been in - known for its design, definitely climate place for every motorbike enthusiast, and not only :) Place is expensive. Food, I do not recommend schnitzel/pork chop, By price: far most expensive one. By quality: you get lot of thick, dry piece (far to big for me, but as it is kind of american style restaurant, I can understand that). It should be thin and well smashed. It tastes poor. For this price, even worse. Beef tatar - okay, but I would recommend "Przedwojenna" instead (better one, and cheaper than in Chopper Bar)
i have that feeling, that "Chopper" can be a place with good food and drinks, I just happend to choose poorly from menu... but it was on the menu nevertheless.
Staff is kind and...
