I wanted to love this place but was faced with an almost comedic series of disappointments. Went on a Saturday evening keen to get a stew in a bread bowl. I was informed by the waitress that they were out of bread for the bowls. That wasn't the end of the world as they offered to serve the goulash I ordered with a side of bread - totally fine with me. Then we waited... And waited for nearly an hour. When the dish came, it wasn't the goulash I ordered but rather the zurek staropolski and it came without a spoon. The bread was a single piece of store-bought toast. Nothing that was in front of me even remotely resembled what I had gone in hoping to get. We did not mention the wrong order to the kitchen as we simply did not have time to wait another hour for another dish to come out. The food itself was good, just not what we asked for.
Now, I was willing to consider my experience uniquely unlucky but as we had plenty of time to wait for the food and bill, I had a look at the surroundings. The restaurant was half full and it seemed like the other customers were having a similarly disappointing experience. I overheard as the waitress informed another table that they were out of potatoes (no bread or potatoes in a Polish restaurant?). A number of patrons had to approach the bar to ask for their menus and bills. Again, this place was not busy, yet no one seemed to be getting served.
The atmosphere is pleasant but it's a shame that the other aspects were not up to standard. I had been to this place before and had a quality meal, but this last time around was disappointing. I know that the restaurant...
Read moreAwful service. First we were given the lunch/dinner menu and spent time choosing what we wanted from it just to be told they’re only serving breakfast. We then had to be given the breakfast menu. Our food took a long time to come out considering we both only ordered scrambled eggs with bread and butter and the place was not very busy. They brought out only our eggs at first. I had seen that another table who ordered the eggs weren’t brought their bread until about 5-10 minutes later, so we asked about the bread when they brought the eggs. We waited over 5 minutes while the server seemed to be doing something else. My partner then went to ask, they were rude about it, and had him stand there while one of them went to the back apparently to grab it. He stood there for over 5 minutes. Finally he decided to just come sit back down and then a few minutes later the person brought us 3 small pieces of slightly toasted bread. We had to ask for butter. By the time the butter came, our toast was cold and so were our eggs. The eggs themselves were actually pretty good, the bread not so much though. Overall, this place has awful service where the people are rude and the food takes a...
Read moreHaving visited this restaurant last year and having had a satisfactory experience, we decided to return for another meal. However, our recent visit was disappointing. We arrived around 8:30 PM and ordered two soups and two main courses. Our experience took a negative turn when our soup was aggressively placed on the table without an apology, almost causing a spill. Before we could even finish our soup, the main courses were hurriedly served. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to enjoy our main courses fully because we noticed the staff turning up the heating, seemingly to encourage guests to leave. Some guests were seen hastily settling their bills and fanning themselves due to the uncomfortable heat. While we understand the desire to close up for the night, it’s unacceptable to inconvenience guests with such extreme conditions. Struggling to breathe in the oppressive heat, we were compelled to leave prematurely. When we requested to have our food packed due to the unbearable heat and stuffiness, only to-go containers were provided. It was evident that the staff lacked enthusiasm and hospitality, which greatly diminished the...
