The service was the best yet in Portugal Clean, cozy and excellent ambiance. 2 musicians played during dinner. We ended up getting something not on the menu. Steaks, recommended by the owner ( not sure) and we tried them. Now this was the most expensive meal yet in Portugal. €29 a dish. We expected something like the pics show. I got a thin steak, with just a cup with some fries. Basic, nothing else on plate. I chewed the hell out of it and could only eat 3/4. It was med rare. My wife got Surf and turf. Same basic plate with fries in a small cup, 3 small shrimp. But her steak was grey and cooked through. The shrimp was not opened and difficult to eat, but it’s common here. The owner saw my wife struggle and asked if everything was ok. She mentioned the steak was well done, and she definitely asked med rare. He scooped it up and said he’d bring another. He looked really embarrassed and wanted to make things right. I just ate what I could of mine didn’t ask for another. I thought well, he’s replacing one, so I’ll just let this go and chalk it up to experience. Another steak came and it was also grey, like it was boiled. No char broil marks. There was blood inside so it was med rare. The escargots were good. With wine and on desert, it was €96. We got the same meal around the corner for €58. Read moreAwful experience which just went from bad to worse. The garlic bread is a piece of sliced bread with garlic spread. Pretty embarrassing for a pizza joint, surely they have some spare dough to make some proper garlic bread.
Onto the mains- one spinach and ricotta cannelloni and one spaghetti di mare. My partner who is vegetarian actually found the cannelloni outside of the vegetarian section, why not just have symbols next to the dishes. Here we can award a star for the cannelloni as the flavour was good but it clearly had been made a while back and frozen as it had visited a microwave when being cooked. Hot and cold spots throughout the dish and no caramelisation across the top.
Onto my seafood spaghetti… just awful. It was over cooked spaghetti with jar Tomato sauce and a frozen packet of seafood mix. The Majority of the clams and mussels were just shells no actual meat. While the prawn was one of the worst tasting prawns I’ve ever had.
To top it all off they had got us into the restaurant on the promise of 20% off for pasta dishes. Must be a simple mistake that they forget to apply the discount when they have us a bill. Until we find out the people next to us have the exact same problem also. Nice little scam that will result a few wins for them. Truly dishonest and awful dining experience. Look elsewhere.

Read moreUpon tasting our dishes, it became immediately apparent that the chef had a particularly enthusiastic hand with the salt shaker. Two of the dishes were so heavily seasoned that they were rendered completely inedible. We politely asked our waiter if we could return these abominations to the kitchen and simply pay for the rest of our meal.
But alas, what we received in response was a lesson in customer service gone horribly awry. The waiter, after allegedly consulting with the manager, informed us that we would be required to pay for every morsel of the disaster they called food, regardless of its consumability.
In an attempt to resolve the situation, we requested to speak with the manager directly. Big mistake. Instead of offering an apology or attempting to rectify the situation, the manager greeted us with a tirade of shouted insults and wild gesticulations. She even had the audacity to threaten us with police involvement if we didn't comply immediately, all while our children looked on in terror.
Feeling cornered and utterly disgusted by both the food and the appalling behavior of the staff, we reluctantly paid the bill just to escape the hostile environment.
