Unfortunately this place did not meet our expectations. The location is really nice and the food to a high standard (although small portions- tapas of course but the octopus salad was absolutely tiny). We felt from when we got there and ordered 4 cocktails instead of wine, from then on we were pushed to the bottom of the priorities list. We got one of our dishes before any drinks appeared, and waited around 40 minutes for the next dish after that. The vegetarian gazpacho (labelled on the menu) came with onions and tomatoes on a side plate to put in the soup which was delicious but there was meat on the plate too and had i not checked with my meat eating friends i would have eaten meat. We felt some hostility from the owner of the restaurant, perhaps because we weren’t locals? We ordered a tapas dish roughly per person plus a side to share and although this may have not been in the way they wanted us to eat, there was no explanation for the extremely slow service and them forgetting our side and having to make it quickly while we waited. We considered just telling them to forget the rest of our dishes and just leaving as we had waited for around 1 hour at that point. Probably wouldn’t recommend if youre...

I read in previous reviews that this very small place was supposed to be a hidden gem on the back road, hence why I made a reservation for the same evening. I should have known from the moment we arrived and our table was not ready ( place was full) despite arriving exactly on time, this was not going to go well. Let me just say that locals get treated very good at this place, tourists not so much. We ordered 4 different tapas and only 2 showed up after 20 min. After 1 hour of waiting and noticing that the table of 6 locals (who arrived after us) suddenly got their food at the same time, we finally decided to complain. Apologies were made and finally 1 more hot tapa showed up but not wat we ordered. Another 10 min later , waitress informs us that a mistake was made and they would now start to make our remaining orders . Needles to stay we had enough and decided to cut our losses and just pay what we consumed and get out of there. Customer service does not seem to exist here ( or at least not for tourist anyway) Do not bother to go, there are so many options in this beautiful town, don’t waist your evening going there, I promise you will regret...

My girlfriend & I visited back in February 14 for Valentines days & we both fell in love. This place is cozy, warm and loving. Just to be safe, we called and created a reservation. The owner of the restaurant picked up the phone and was very lovely. Once we arrived roughly 8pm, our table was ready for us. I believe the two servers were the owners of the restaurant. You can really tell this place is there passion, and the food absolutely showed that. We ordered a few glasses or white/red Portuguese wines that were recommended. They were so tasty we went to the store to buy more. For an appetizer we received fresh fresh olives that even though I dont like olives I ate them because they were so fresh and good!! NOTE:YOU MUST ORDER THE OCTOPUS SALAD. I AM HAVING DREAMS OF HOW GOOD IT WAS!!!! I WISH THEY HAD THIS STYLE IN MY HOME OF PUERTO RICO!!! My girlfriend ordered the Shrimp curry that was so good. she only allowed me to have one bite :P I ordered the Dunk confit in orange sauce (OMG!!!!!) I should have ordered two of them. WE WILL ABSOLUTELY BE RETURNING HERE WHEN WE GO BACK TO PORTUGAL.

OBRIGADO...

Last night I stumbled on this place unintentionally after I missed the closing hour of another restaurant I had intended to go to. A lot of places close at 11 PM here. I was alone because I am living solo, but I felt so welcomed by Klaus. I was really starving, but assumed all I could get was wine which I was fine with, but I was offered an octopus salad even though the kitchen was closed I devoured it and enjoyed a beautiful white wine from Douro. Then I met Barbara, the owner out, having a smoke in the rain, and she was so warm to me and invited me to join her and some longtime friends at a table where I proceeded to drink more wine than I should have. Even though I do not speak but few words in Portuguese and have English only, Barbara and her friends were so hospitable. We laughed and talked for hours. I felt so at home here, and I will definitely be back very soon for a proper meal. This place is small and quaint with great music. What a perfect way to end a long work week!

Nice food. Fussy service We were the first customers in early evening, before 7pm. The lady serving us was overly fussing around us, we couldn't relax and enjoy the food. Then an acquaintance of theirs posted himself at the small counter right opposite our table and as the restaurant was empty, he had nothing to do but stare at us while drinking a glass of wine, we thought this was odd. We ate our food quickly and left without dessert or coffees as we felt uncomfortable with all the attention. We pass this place daily and there is a buzz from the place after 8pm, so go later, it will be more enjoyable!
