My mother and I were really looking forward to our first brunch in Cascais, and this café seemed like the perfect spot. The space is lovely and the staff were kind, but unfortunately, the overall experience left us disappointed.
We arrived at 10:40 and were told we’d need to be finished by 11:30—which we understood, as it was clearly a busy morning. That said, it felt strange for the pressure to be placed on us as guests when the service didn’t reflect that urgency. Our food took about 30 minutes to arrive, and our cappuccinos only came after we had completely finished eating.
The food itself was underwhelming. The toast was stale and completely untoasted—so tough it was difficult to cut. The eggs and guacamole were fine, but the guac tasted pre-made, and the avocado toast was missing the red peppers and feta listed on the menu. The cappuccinos were actually quite good—just very delayed.
Despite the push to finish quickly, no one brought us the bill. We went up to pay and still had to wait again, which added to the overall disconnect in the experience.
To be fair, it’s a beautiful café and the reviews are largely positive, so perhaps our experience was just an off day. But sadly, we won’t...
Read moreI am gluten intolerant and dairy free. The waiter was very kind and accommodating to me. He mentioned checking the ponzu sauce in the chicken poke bowl with the chef for me. The chicken was grilled to perfection and this dish was exactly what I wanted - a healthy mix of protein and veggies for my lunch during a full day of touring. I also had an espresso tonic to give me energy to power through sightseeing and an orange/ginger detox drink to aid in my digestion. My husband had an eggs Benedict and latte which he said was excellent. They can make any of the toast options with gluten free bread. The period of service from sitting to paying the check was about 50 minutes, but not rushed. I recommend this restaurant for anyone in Cascais who is gluten or dairy intolerant looking for a healthy and satisfying breakfast, brunch, or lunch. I cannot speak to their preparation standards for celiacs, though. I did not have any reactions to the food I ate. They offer a variety of of plant based milks as well. Check it out!
Please note- the menu is NOT labeled Gluten free, dairy...
Read moreCute ambience. Flexible with adjustment (got avocado instead of the egg). The mushroom & truffle toast a little overpriced. Nothing special about the bread. Store bought small piece of bread that wasn't just toasted but also already super dry and very hard to eat. The toast was also missing truffle, garlic and parsley which are the 3 main flavour giver on the toast. After asking if it was meant to be non visible and tasteless on the toast I've been told they put some more truffle oil, parsley and garlic on the toast. Even with only one drop of cheap truffle oil I should have been able to taste any truffle flavour. Not on this toast. Garlic was way overdone by then with dried garlic povder and parsley still nowhere to be seen. I paid nearly 10 € for that experience. Made my peace with it and took a last sip of my water when I realised that my glass had deep red lipstick stain and I never even owned a red lipstick. When presenting my glass to the staff they told the barista asap and kinda corrected him right in front of us which was also...
