What a disappointment. Almost ruined our expirience in this beautiful area. They were busy so I was not surprised when I was ignored by multiple servers while waiting for a table. After 5 minutes of waiting I asked one of the servers where I should wait and she pointed at one of the walls. Another 20 minutes went by and we finally felt our turn coming by. I hoped I would not end up with the server that had a face of I hate everyone but alas the table that was hers cleared so I prepared to have a bad waitress. To my surprise an elderly couple sat at the table and as we looked to our server to say something she simply smiled at us the way a bully would. She said “ if you wanted a table you should have come to me, now you must wait” . With that smile she had after I had waited 30 minutes to be seated while being ignored I could not stand to wait longer and left.

If this is truly the owner the owner with the bad attitude like some other reviewers seem to point to, she needs some serious humbling and attitude adjustment. Get out of the business if you can’t hand customer service anymore. Avoid if you don’t her to ruin your mood. Beware the server with short hair , tattoos, a face of “ I hate my job”, and...

Update June 15, 2024 I’m back again! Both the owner, Sónia and the pretty long time waitress, Anastasya, remembered me. Anastasya even remember I liked my fish without salt, clever girl, Sónia is lucky to have her. My sea bass was, so fresh that it’s like the cook (Sónia’s mom) just fished it out of the ocean. It was a very enjoyable meal again. Reviewed June 12, 2023 Hidden Gem I have been coming to Cascais for several years, except the two years of pandemic, never noticed this small family restaurant right in the middle of town on the quieter side of the street. I must have walked passed it on the other side hundreds times. Sonia, the lovely lady owner told me her parents started this restaurant (when?) and she is the second generation, her mom is still the chef. I had a very flavorful sea bass grilled to perfection. I’m so glad I found this place now added to my favorite Cascais restaurant list. It’s a pity that they are constrained by the indoor space, meaning they have to rely on good weather for the...

This lovely little restaurant is absolutely worth the visit. I highly recommend!

My colleague and I took the train into Cascais to sight-see before a work event. We found Maritimo by looking at Google reviews. We are so glad that we did!

The service was quick and very kind. They also are very respectful of your time - for example, we ordered octopus salad as an appetizer, and they made sure to 'time' our appetizer and mains and ask us when we were ready for things. We didn't feel rushed. As other reviews have noted, the ambience is just adorable. We sat outside on the terrace, and the neighborhood is just a beautiful one to watch. There's also jazz music playing, etc.

My colleague and I had the octopus salad, the grilled fish and the garlic prawns. All of it was fantastic. I especially appreciated the white wine, butter and garlic sauce on the prawns.

We would return here...

I'll start by saying the three dishes we odered were very tasty (fava beans, clams, sea bream). The fresh juice was brought to us in a hot glass, so it was very warm. The server brought us a glass of ice when we complained (fine, but at 5.5 euro for a juice I would have appreciated they at least pretended to bring a fresh one). We were not brought the standard bread, olives and pate (couberto, which is not free, but this is standard in Portugal). We ordered bread anyway and were brought 3 half slices of bread and an entire plate of packaged toastettes, most of which were broken. A strange choice for a 2.20 euro "bread" menu item. All in all I would recommend the food, but skip the couberto and maybe don't go towards the end of the day.
