Hotel Victoria is absolutely fabulous, and I couldn't recommend it anymore. The hotel is understated and doesn’t promise to be 5*. It is however a hotel with wonderful staff who quietly go about their business, ensuring all guests are happy and well looked after and who made me smile every time they said hello. The rooms are super clean, with high-quality bedding that feels incredibly comfortable.||The staff and owners of the hotel are fantastic. They just want to prioritise their guests' well-being and did their best to take care of us. After a delayed flight, we arrived at the hotel at 3:00 AM. Instead of being met with grumpiness or tired faces, one of the hotel owners greeted us warmly, genuinely pleased that we had made it and that our journey had come to an end. That in itself was worth the price.||We visited with a group of athletes competing in a triathlon. When the owner heard that the athletes wanted porridge in the morning, she went home, Googled the recipe, and made sure it was available before their race. She even opened the kitchen 45 minutes early to ensure the athletes were well taken care of. The porridge was great and the team went off racing with a smile.||Coimbra surprised us as a town—it turned out to be beautiful and somewhere we would love to visit again. If we do, we will definitely stay at Hotel Victoria, the understated hotel with staff who have the biggest hearts. It is 5 *s from me and a big thank you to all staff at...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised. Room. - clean and spacious. All the amenities including a kettle was available. From memory, I do not recollect a safe for your passport/ important documents. Distance - quite a bit of a hike from the university. However close to the town center. There were many eateries close by. Service - the receptionist was pleasant during check in.but we had a bit of difficulties understanding her. We did have a moment of panic when the main doors were locked after we had gone out for lunch however turned out that it was because the receptionist had gone to attend to something in the upper floors. Parking - an underground parking which is 5 minute walk from the hotel. 10 euro a day. Breakfast...
Read moreWe stayed here for four nights. The room was clean and renovated, with plenty of outlets, a decent shower, and quiet, competent air conditioning. There is also an elevator. It is small, but with luggage, it helped. The desk staff were always friendly and helpful. We paid for the breakfast twice. It was a pretty good spread. ||The location is very convenient to the train station (Coimbra-A, not Coimbra-B) and a short walk (uphill) to the center. Also, there is a self-service laundry just a few blocks away. Sometimes it was kind of loud outside because of guys hanging out--the area feels a little downtrodden. But other nights it was quiet, and we didn't have any issues with safety. Overall it was a...
