What a find! We were wandering around after being turned away at the Coimbra Ceramics Factory, and we were so glad for the turn of events . While we weren't looking for a seafood dinner, we sure lucked out with one.
We ordered the Rodizio Seafood platter for two, not quite knowing that "rodizio" meant all you can eat. The main course was €23 each, and it's incredible value. The platter had an assortment of mussels, oysters, goose barnacles, a small crab, a big crab with huge claws, a bowl of garlic prawns (at least 20 of them), clams, cold prawns, massive grilled tiger prawns, sea snails and I can't remember what else. Although I've been out of Portugal for a long time, the appetite for seafood runs through my veins, so we demolished the platter. The waiter very kindly reminded us that we had ordered the rodizio and we could have as much as we wanted. We ordered a few more garlic prawns and some crab claws, and we could barely get through them. It was an epic seafood feast. Some of the items were frozen, but that didn't take away from the taste. I don't expect that variety of seafood at that price to be fresh, but I do expect that it be well prepared, as it was.
The dinner came with a clam rice, which was delicious. We also enjoyed a few entradas - tuna pate with toasties, delicious garlicky olives, and of course a basket of fresh bread. We weren't in the mood for much wine, but we did order a bottle of cheap fizzy white, and it was actually perfect with our seafood dinner.
We ended our dinner with a slice of cheesecake (not American style, but delicious) and two coffees. The house offered us shots of a honey grappa with our coffee, which was pretty killer. I don't think I'd drink it again as it was super potent, but it was a very nice gesture. Service was attentive and friendly, even with the staff handling a full house.
Our incredible seafood feast with a bottle of wine, coffees and a shared dessert was €65, so a real bargain. Definitely going back the next time...

Read moreSuch a wonderful experience! Great food and the waiter is wonderful! Very helpful and English speaking, informative. We went twice, first time had grilled bass traditional, and pork tenderloin on tile, both excellent. Second time shared a bacalhau dish which was excellent too. Crème brûlée was lovely. And a shot of grappa to finish. Will be a go to place for us when we relocate to this...
