I stumbled upon Notes Bar and Kitchen in Coimbra completely by chance, and wow—I’m so glad I did! This place turned out to be such a gem, far exceeding anything I expected. From the moment I walked in, the cozy yet stylish vibe immediately made me feel at home. The staff was so warm and welcoming, and their attention to detail made the experience feel really special.
Let’s talk about the food—absolutely incredible. The mushroom croquette was a standout for me: perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, with just enough grated cheese to take it to the next level. Then came the burrata salad, and honestly, it’s the best I’ve had in Coimbra. The creamy burrata paired with fresh greens and pesto was just perfection on a plate.
The beef tartare on a croissant was definitely the most unexpected dish. The croissant wasn’t the traditional buttery kind but sweeter, almost dessert-like. While it was creative and interesting, it wasn’t my favorite of the appetizers—but I still loved the surprise factor and the chef’s unique spin.
The wine pairing was spot on, and the staff’s knowledge of both food and wine made everything even better. Each recommendation felt thoughtful and elevated the whole experience.
I didn’t get to try as much of the menu as I wanted to, but I’m already excited to come back and explore more. If you’re in Coimbra and love great food, wine, and an inviting atmosphere, Notes Bar and Kitchen is an absolute must-visit. I feel so lucky to have found this place and can’t wait to...
Read moreIf I lived here I would be a regular. Notes Bar & Kitchen was excellent. I popped in for lunch because I didn’t have a reservation on a sat night and I didn’t want to risk not eating here. It was a wise decision. While I only had a couple of dishes, the sourdough that is made from scratch, in-house was nothing short of phenomenal. The pork in red curry sauce was exactly what I was hoping for, something different from all the traditional Portuguese dishes I’ve been consuming recently. It was dynamite and comes with a side of rice that is so well seasoned, you’ll be wishing you could take home a pint of it like it was a Chinese restaurant. And I know you’re wondering if I lapped up all that curry sauce with the sourdough… you’re absolutely right I did. The grilled vegetables were a nice side to complete my meal. While I only tried those dishes, they were of such high quality that I would highly recommend dining here. Sadly I live in NYC so I can’t frequent it, but wow do I wish...
Read moreVery nice restaurant! The food was delicious, the waiters very helpful, suggestive and friendly. High service level with qualitative hospitality. The menus is very varied and we chose to share some starters. Afterwards we chose for a trio of meat as main course which was just perfect. Even the wine glasses they served our delicious wine is was very impressive. We even got a complementary digestif (Madeira). Wonderful.
Only one note: the desserts we had were delicious but not very surprising.
In general: definitely go here when you’re looking for nice evening dinner with no rush and high...
