It seems rarer and rarer, to be surprised, in a good way, when you go out to eat these days. Conselheiro delivers! Their menu choices were refreshingly different. Croquettes de frango assado, we're some of the best Croquettes that I have ever eaten, and they have the flavour of Portuguese chicken peri-peri,nothing spicy, just packed with layers of complex flavour 😋 Okay, I'm going to confess, I'm addicted to mushroom risottos, and this one did not disappoint! Solid flavour from the first to the last bite, never got boring. My friend ordered the chicken fricassee and it was bright and satisfying, he also ordered the soup, which was tomato, also,surprisingly complex and very tasty! Very slow service from the start, setting the tone for a disappointing evening.

Our starter prawn soup was extremely salty – almost inedible – but hunger won, so we ate it while trying to wash it down with wine and water.

When the mains finally arrived, we were let down again. We’d ordered prawn risotto, yet between us we counted just one tiny prawn each. For a dish that’s supposed to feature prawns, that’s unacceptable, especially when the flavour was only average at best.

Authentic Portuguese dishes and fantastic service! We visited on our last night in Portugal, we were looking for something special and particularly authentic Portuguese cuisine and - it was the best food and wine we'd had since arriving. Exceptionally cooked Portuguese dishes with great wine to go with it. The chef came out to explain the specials to us and the staff were knowledgeable and informed about each wine and region.
