Buga Ramen isn't just a meal; it's an experience built for anyone who loves Japanese pop culture. Nestled in Funchal, stepping inside this restaurant is like walking straight into an anime fan’s dream. The interior design is fantastic, filled with cool anime figurines, engaging art, and a soundtrack of Japanese music playing softly in the background. It creates a vibrant, fun, and completely immersive atmosphere.

Adding to the novelty is the service: your dishes are delivered right to your table by a robot that smiles and talks to you! It’s a brilliant touch of modern fun that elevates the entire dining experience.

Crucially, the food absolutely lives up to the aesthetic hype. The ramen here is exceptional. The broth is deep, rich, and truly delicious, hitting all the right notes you want from a perfect bowl of ramen. The meat, in particular, was spectacular—tender and cooked until it simply melted in the mouth. It’s clear the kitchen takes its main dish seriously.

The only small letdown was the bao bun. While the duck filling was flavorful and delicious, the bun itself was slightly stale, which unfortunately detracted from the experience. It was a minor stumble in an otherwise fantastic meal, but easily overlooked considering the quality of everything else.

Between the exceptional ramen, the incredibly fun, themed atmosphere, and the delightful robotic delivery, Buga Ramen is a must-visit spot in Funchal. What’s not to like? We highly...

The restaurant has really lovely decor and it is evident a lot of effort has gone into it. The staff were very friendly, including the robot server!

However, I'm sad to say that the food was not that great. The edame was very overcooked, to the point it fell apart and hard pieces broke off in your mouth as you ate, which I hadn't had before. The Pork Tonkotsu ramen however was very disappointing, to the point I couldn't eat it as the pork was un-rendered and slimey and the broth itself was nothing like a Tonkotsu should be.

My partner had the duck katsu curry, which he did enjoy, but it was served luke warm (same as ramen broth). In addition, we also had the spicey Karaage which was nice enough.

I appreciated that the servers / managers were accommodating when I raised the ramen. However, I had to leave an honest review. Perhaps it was just the Tonkotsu and the other...

Coming to this place was like reliving my childhood, the experience was BRUTAL, the setting is very nice and certainly nostalgic for those who grew up watching anime, but incredible, from the first moment you enter the place you feel like in a totally different place, all the waiters were very friendly from the moment I arrived until I left. And the food PUFFF was delicious, I ordered a chicken katsu combo, all very well done and really good. And the mochi for dessert I think there couldn't have been a better choice, I really recommend this place, and I plan to come back as many times as I can! If you love anime and ramen as much as naruto and I do, this place is definitely for u!
