I would like to start this review to say the waitress was great, in general the food was good, the sangria was delicious, and to add to this, I don't normally do bad reviews. We had an appetizer of lapas which were a good flavor (very rubbery but I'm not sure if that's how they are supposed to be as it was my first time eating them so I just cut them up and swallowed them whole) and my husband had finished most of his chicken skewer meal, while I was still enjoying the fish and banana. That's when things took a turn. My husband found a large piece of glass in his salad. I quickly got the attention of the waitress to let her know so that they could check the rest of the salad (likely it was in the lettuce or the beets) before serving it to others. It seemed that something likely had broken and ended up in the salad unknowingly. We didn't make a big deal out of it, but neither of us were able to finish our meals at that point. The waitress apologized and went inside to tell the kitchen staff. Shortly after, a gentleman stood in the doorway to look around. My husband and I were laughing, as we had a bad day and joked that it was the perfect ending to our rough afternoon. I saw the gentleman look in our direction and shake his head with a look that I interpreted as distain. Maybe he thought we were trying to pull some trick to get a meal for free?
We finished our sangria, the waitress asked if we wanted coffee or dessert, which we declined and asked for the bill.
This is what prompted me to write this review. The bill came to us in full. No discount for the meal that had the glass in the salad. We knew the waitress had already spoken with the people inside and that it wasn't her fault, so we didn't bother asking for it to be compensated.
Hopefully this review can help others make an informed decision before...
Read moreThe restaurant space is nice, but ordering food was a struggle with only employees from Venezuela who speak a rough portuguese, and I'm afraid the english is no different. The order didn't take long to come, but the food itself was not that appealing. I asked for a simple and easy to make traditional "prego no prato" which consists of rice, fried potatoes, salad and a beef topped with a fried egg, but it turns out the beef was too cooked, salty and even a bit burnt, the rice was completely flavourless, the salad had bad tasting tomatoes and cucumber and the only appealing part was the chips and some lettuce. Really can't afford to give this restaurant more than 2 stars unfortunately for its service food and high prices overall. REMINDER! This area is normally filled with tourists, and the prices are a steal, so please be careful when buying some lunch or having dinner because they will charge you for...
Read moreBest meal we had in Madeira. Some other places serve tasty traditional food for good price but this place takes it to the next level.
We ordered tuna steak and espada with banana. The tuna is not try as in many other places. Both look and taste as quality food. The portions are rather large. In other places I visited l they gave small espada with one banana. The plate also had a slice of avocado and a large sweet potato. Here it seems almost like double the size. At the same time they maintain an affordable price
It is a pity that there were few people. Because of that the waitress was inside and didn't go to our table for a while. We wanted to go to another restaurant due to this. But she is nice and unobtrusive(contrary to many othera on the neighboring streets). We had to go to a nearby coffee shop to get some spare coins for a tip
P. S. This is not a snack bar but a...
