Tropical Seafood — Restaurant in Funchal

I recently visited Marisqueira Tropicana and, after careful consideration, I would rate my experience as a 3 out of 5. The standout aspect of my visit was the food, which I found to be quite delicious. The dishes were well-prepared, and the flavors were impressive, offering a truly enjoyable culinary experience.

Beyond the food, however, the overall experience lacked certain elements that could have made it more memorable. The service, in particular, was an area where improvement is needed. After our initial order was taken, the attentiveness of the staff noticeably decreased. There was no follow-up to check if we were satisfied with our meals or if we needed anything else, which diminished the dining experience.

Additionally, I found that the restaurant didn't offer any other notable features or unique aspects that could have enhanced my visit.

In conclusion, while the quality of the food at Marisqueira Tropicana is certainly worth noting, the overall experience would benefit greatly from improved customer service and perhaps some additional features or attractions that could make the visit more engaging...

A huge mistake overall.. The first mistake (probably) was to make the reservation via the Fork which gives 30% discount from the food. The waiter was acting weird when we arrived and sat down. When placing the order it felt like we made a wrong decision from his point of view. And with the wine list we had just a few seconds glimpse of it and the waiter decided that we had placed the order. We ordered the fish and seafood mix and everything was ruined. The limpets were uneatable, mussels were rubber, tuna and other fish all dry. The big shrimp was also spoilt by over cooking. Why? Why did we deserve this? If one does not want to give discount he should place the ad. In the bill the discount was there alright but we were still cheated because there were no such an expensive vinho verde in the wine list - I'm absolutely sure even though the waiter pulled the list from my hands as quickly as possible. Explendid! We did a Last minute reservation for 2 for the biggest night of the year in Madeira, New year's eve. As normal the restaurant was full booked, however they were very nice and kept our contact in case of an opening. 1h Later they called back saying they have a place for us! Getting there everything was perfect, from the reception, to the food! The Tiger Shrimp is unbelievably good!! The sliced octopus with olive oil and paprika is also very tasty. The "Polvo á Tropicana" and the "Tropical Scabbardfish" our main courses were also very well done and tasty! Staff was really nice, and we didn't had to wait at all to get service! Considering that we were there in the most moved night of the year I can say that it everything was perfect! We payed a bit more because we decided to go for the BIG grilled Tiger shrimps and those are expensive everywhere.. so a great choice, at least for us!
