At first we were very excited to visit this Restaurant due to recommendations. The waiter was keen on selling the €55 deal per person as it would otherwise work out more expensive - he also promised about unlimited free drinks and amazing food.
Our starters arrived promptly and we were quite satisfied and our expectations were high at this point as it was very good. For mains we were told "its the best octopus youll ever have" and I also ordered a "full rack of lamb".
After a few minutes the mains arrived and everything went down hill from there. The octopus was far from fabulous and extemely small portion. The rack of lamb turned out to be one lamb chop dowsed in gravy. We realised afterwards whilst looking around that everybody had the same sides - boiled brocolli, beans, carrots and a potatoe patty the only thing that would distinguish the plate was the choice of fish or meat.
After being served the staff stayed well away from anyone and disappeared - probably to avoid asking for unlimited drinks. We had to keep calling them over for service. The Wine was very cheap and basic.
The desserts were ok at best, but thats because when you have a bad meal, sweet desserts always taste better. Everything was mediocre. We even had to have coffee to be awake - however, the cappuchino was like something you would get in a packet at a hotel and the flavour was awful (again cheap coffee). The green interior was depressing together with the dull classical music.
This was certainly not worth €55 per person and prices per meal are increased on purpose to make you feel as if youre getting a bargain.
I gave an extra star because the bathroom was amazing with mirrors top to bottom - this was the only plus point I could...

We had the pleasure of dining at Mozart on our last night in Funchal, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and made to feel truly special. The attention to detail, impeccable service, and exquisite presentation of each dish made for an unforgettable evening.
We opted for the special menu, which included a three-course meal paired with wine throughout dinner, followed by coffee. Every dish was beautifully crafted and bursting with flavor. We started with scallops and the duo of shrimp and salmon, both perfectly prepared. For our mains, we enjoyed the lamb and beef Wellington, both cooked to perfection. To finish, we indulged in the cheese platter and the decadent chocolate fondant, which was the perfect ending to an outstanding meal.
The entire staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This was, without a doubt, one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Madeira.
We will definitely return and would highly recommend Mozart to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining...
Read moreSadly, when we arrived at Mozarts, the man who greeted us was a little abrupt to my partner, who commented, "he must be the owner with that attitude"! It turns out he wasn't, and on reading other reviews, it wasn't just us who had that welcome! He did warm up a little throughout the evening, and the restaurant did redeemed themselves somewhat with the food to be fair.
All the food was beautifully presented. My starter, the crispy prawns was delicious, my main wasn't particularly nice though, some fish I hadn't tried before. The Snickers fondant dessert was one of the highlights of the evening; if you love delicious "showcase" desserts, you will love it! It also came with ice cream, fruit and a small amount of sweet sauce. It looked like it would be really sickly sweet, but somehow they managed to create a dessert that didn't make your teeth rattle.
They had an offer on, which was very good value, 45 Euros (if I remember correctly) for three courses, unlimited wine and coffee. There was music playing from surprise, surprise Mozart, and the décor was dotted with things from that kind of music style. All in all, it was a...
