Victoria Restaurante — Restaurant in Funchal

What a little gem of a restaurant. We have yet to have a bad meal in Funchal but this place is definitely on my list of top 3 meals. Situated opposite the Casino at the top of the hill it's a little outside the city centre but worth a visit. The outside doesn't truly show the quality of the cooking which awaits. The fish is fresh and tasty and what they seem to focus on. We had garlic prawns to start which were superb. But the hidden gem for me was the filter steak. The quality was second to none. Full of flavour and perfectly cooked it's definitely a restaurant worth considering. For desert i had the biscuit cake which is a madieran specialty. All i can say is its devine and a must have also. We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Victoria Restaurante in Funchal! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home, especially with our 1-year-old—so accommodating and kind!

The food was out of this world—every dish was clearly cooked to order with the freshest ingredients. It did take a little time, but it was well worth the wait for such high-quality, flavorful meals.

DO NOT go there if it looks at all busy They invite you to take a seat with no warning of the waiting time which was Over an HOUR for us and the table next to us ( who were even more fed up than us.) We were given some garlic toast after a little while which gave us the impression that our meal was coming soon.. 45 minutes later it arrived. we would have left if we hadn't had the toast. But then I guess they knew that. Other places here warn you. eg Portaliano said you are welcome to come in but there could be a waiting time of up to 20 mins. No such luck at this (greedy?) place.
