Mixed experience at Club Nau. We came for dinner and a night out, and it delivered on the party vibe, but not so much on the food side of things. I ordered the ribs and, honestly, they were pretty underwhelming — dry, lacking flavour, and not really worth the price. It felt like they were trying to look the part but didn’t quite back it up in taste.
Service was alright — nothing bad, but nothing that stood out either. The staff were polite enough and did check in on us, but it didn’t feel particularly attentive or warm. You kind of got the sense they were a bit overstretched or just going through the motions.
The biggest surprise was the music — loud. Like, shout-over-your-starter loud. If you’re planning on having a relaxed dinner and a chat, definitely ask for a table further from the speakers. It felt like we were eating inside a subwoofer. That said, once we gave up trying to talk and just leaned into the night, the vibe totally shifted. We ended up hitting the dance floor later and had a proper laugh — the atmosphere after dark is buzzing, and it’s clear they know how to throw a party.
So yeah — food wasn’t great, service was fine, and it’s definitely more club than restaurant as the night goes on. If you’re going for the social scene and beachside location, you’ll probably have a good time — just don’t go in expecting a...
Read moreGreat place to get a good drink and meal with a beautiful view of the beach and harbor inlet. I arrived early in the day and they had robust breakfast menu. I ordered what I will call a great small "American" breakfast (scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast) for a very reasonable €6. Combined with A tall Super Bock Stout it was a great breakfast for barely €11. Skip forward a few hours and sun on the beach with the family, we all went there for lunch. We ordered edamame for the table and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had the Black Angus burger with chips (€24) and it was great. The Mrs. had the baked camembert and she loved it. Our friend had the poke bowl and she raved about it. As someone who has been to Hawaii often I was impressed by the poke portion and it is well worth the money. Our kids had the children's fish and chips and a quesadilla. The kids liked their food. All told, between drinks and food (hearty portions) each adult was in for about €25-35, kids €8-12, but everyone was happy with the cost for the service and portions delivered. I look forward to coming here again...
Read moreOverall experience was nice, but likely wouldn’t go back again. I really enjoyed dessert and would consider a second visit simply for the dessert. Restaurant is fairly touristy which given the area makes complete sense. I found this restaurant in a magazine listing restaurants in the area and so I expected a bit more traditional Portuguese food, which it is not. But that is not a fault of the restaurant at all, it was just my misunderstanding. I enjoyed the asparagus and salmon, but expected the shrimp dish to be more of a traditional dish based on its description but the sauce wasn’t one I was familiar with. With that said it was still nice. The restaurant is right on the beach, giving a nice view. I would recommend this spot for those who aren’t looking for Portuguese style foods and/or are looking for foods they may be more familiar with - they even had a menu of Japanese items. Service was nice as well. If you are close to Praia grande or enjoying the beach, I would recommend popping in to club nau for some simple bites. I thoroughly recommend the pear crumble - it...
