Where to start - my boyfriend and I were on the hunt for the best piri piri chicken in all of Portugal. We stumbled across this place after a full 14 days touring Lisbon, Porto, sao Miguel, and Madeira. AND THEY EVEN TAKE CREDIT CARD!!!!! (Hard to come by in Lagos)
Service: We sat down and IMMEDIATELY a server came sprinting up to us, desperate to quench our traveling thirst with pints of super bock. Amazing service, I’ve never seen speed like that before
Food: We both got the piri piri chicken which came out in the blink of an eye. The sauces, oh the sauces. One of the only restaurants in Portugal we have come across that brings them to the table and lets the customer decide how saucey they want to get. Hot sauce is fantastic - never seen this specific brand before but it is SPICY and so flavourful. The yogurt sauce can’t be missed either, cooling our on fire mouths as we like it hot
Chicken cuts are choice, lots of meat which was especially refreshing after one of their competitors served us a chicken neck and malnourished bones, with not 1 lick of sauce or seasoning - not even salt and pepper, to try and make up a serving - so disgusting.
I’ll be honest, my boyfriend and I were on the rocks before this restaurant, continuing to fight with each other - this restaurant was our reprieve and we ate in blissful silence, shovelling morsel after morsel of chicken into our mouths - quite frankly it single-handedly saved our entire relationship
Frequency: It was SO GOOD we came back for more 2 days later and decided to branch out to other dishes - the kebab durum, and even the pepperoni salami pizza. We were inspired after we saw another patron eating their pizza last time, and could tell he was undergoing a spiritual experience.
Prices: couldn’t believe my eyes that the kebab durum was only 5.5 euros - my only critique is that it came with TOO MUCH MEAT - if you want to get your moneys worth, you need to come here - buy 2 of these and feed a family of 4-5
The atmosphere: the nested patio on a cobbled road is something from a storybook. It’s the yellow brick road from the Wizard of Oz, where you and your companions too, will have a journey of self discovery. The shiny metallic tables give you enough space to enjoy 2, even 3 entrees each as you rest your tired feet lounging in cloud-like basket woven chairs taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells that old Lagos...
Read moreVery disappointing and unprofessional. The place was full of flies, which made the environment uncomfortable. I ordered two peri-peri dishes, and the staff confirmed it was possible. However, only one came with the correct sauce. The other arrived completely plain, and when I questioned it, the explanation given was that “maybe we couldn’t handle the spice.” That assumption was not only incorrect — it was offensive, especially since spicy food was exactly what we wanted.
Worse, the staff member had clearly lied earlier by saying it was possible to get both with peri-peri. The rice also tasted old and off, and I left the food untouched. No one asked if anything was wrong or offered to fix the issue.
I first tried to order in Portuguese — as I’m Brazilian — but was not understood, so I switched to English. At the end, I was told “communication is hard because you don’t speak the language,” which was a very odd and inappropriate comment, considering I speak both Portuguese and...
Read moreWe were a group of 7 lads on holiday and stumbled across Frango Piri Piri Grelhado — and honestly, we haven’t stopped coming back since. This place is an absolute gem.
Let’s start with the food: 🔥 The piri piri chicken was next level — juicy, perfectly grilled, packed with flavor, and spiced to perfection. 🥙 The doner kebab? Unreal. Loaded with tender meat, fresh salad, and the most addictive sauce. Easily one of the best kebabs we’ve ever had — and that’s saying something. 💸 And the prices? Shockingly cheap for how good the food is. You leave full, happy, and with change in your pocket.
But what truly makes this place stand out is the elite service. Huge shoutout to Farhann, who made every visit feel like we were VIPs. Attentive, friendly, and just a top guy all around — he made the whole experience that much better.
The vibe is relaxed, the food is top-tier, and we genuinely can't recommend it enough. If you're in Lagos and don’t eat here, you're missing out.
We’ll be...
