After reading all the reviews here and on other sites, I had to stay at Casa Margô. I was in Lagos for 9 days, mostly to relax and walk around to the beaches and have a change of scenery from Lisbon.

The hotel and rooms were very clean and constantly maintained. There was a plumbing issue in the superior studio I was assigned so I had to move to another room a day later. Although I was given many choices, I decided on a one bedroom (a small upgrade) though I had been very happy with the studio. I made many observations while staying here but I will focus on two things.

One is that there is staff at the hotel from 9am - 6pm only. So if you need something ask for it during staff hours. Otherwise, you’re on your own until the next day.

Two is that I had expected to be greeted by Magda, who I thought was the manager. Perhaps it was because I visited during low season, but I never met her. Instead there was housekeeping staff and the front desk staff. It seemed the only one there full time was Barbara and she was both welcoming and extremely helpful. She helped me with store, restaurant and beach recommendations. She also told me where I might be able to find things in case it was past 6pm and I couldn’t wait. Very professional, approachable and always at the front desk, ready to help. Only reason for the 4 in service was because the days Barbara was off her replacements were not as available.

Almost forgot. Casa Margô is connected to the Salty Lodge. As a guest of Casa Margô I was allowed to go up to the rooftop lounge to relax, have a picnic and look over some of the city. It was a bonus worth using.

Thank you Casa Margô for a...

I loved this place. We stayed there for 3 nights in May. Great location, right at the heart of the old town of Lagos, and a 12 minute walk to the train station, and port. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

The check in process was very smooth. There is no 24/7 reception. Hence, we received a unique PIN code to enter the building and our room via WhatsApp. Which proved beneficial, as we arrived late in the evening. Also, we never had to worry about loosing cards, or having them deactivated in a costal area.

The one bedroom apartment we stayed at was extremely spacious and equipped with appliances. We had a balcony right on the square. It never got too noisy or too loud for us. And if there was a bit of commission, it never lasts past 10 pm.

However, I would have loved it if we had a coffee machine in our apartment. Unfortunately there was only 1 machine for all the guests to use in the main reception area.

Also, due to the layout of the apartment, there were no windows in the bedroom and entryway. Hence, there was a funny smell (not too bad but it’s there), that we never managed to get rid off, or mask off.

This place can get a bit pricey during season, but for a great value for money. Highly...

Thank you , thank you !!! What a wonderful experience from start to finish - the star rating is 3.. it should be 5!! We are lucky to have stayed in some lovely places and Casa Margo is up there !! We are a family of 5 and stayed on the 2 bed 2 bath for a week ..||Key points ||1. Welcome and bespoke check in fantastic. Our apartment was ready early and we had a detailed guide of local area and hotel. Also we had a nightmare with previous accommodation and the team were so good and welcomed us earlier than planned ||2. Welcome pack and housekeeping were very high standard. Nothing too much trouble and staff always welcoming and helpful.||3. Rooms are incredibly well designed and well kept . Communal spaces in keeping and relaxing . Pool small but well formed and lovely spaces round it. ||4. Hotel ‘extras’ fabulous- free yoga on beautiful terrace available to all - was a lovely hour and welcomed as novice yoga goers ! Hotel bikes a lovely offer which we planned to use but was too hot ! Also use of sister hotel and we used the terrace one morning for a lovely breakfast ||5. Location could not be more central - right in the middle of old town but when in hotel like in middle of nowhere. ||Thank...

One of the most amazing experiences in Portugal. From the premium checkin experience to the homely welcome by Catarina. Catarina gave us the most gracious welcome into the property with a complete download of the city. Her everyday smiles and recommendations really made us feel like we’re welcome and at the right place. Compliments to the interior design efforts. The studio was very cozy, comfortable and was everything we were looking for. From a fully stacked kitchen, clean and spacious room, wardrobe space - value for money. The location was bang centre of old town. Couldn’t have been more centre. The pool area and cute morning coffee areas really were the icing on the cake. From having bikes to rent, beach towels and connections with tours. Highly recommend. Will come back here - eyes closed. Truly 5 star experience.
