Believe the bad reviews and avoid this place if you wanna spend a pleasant evening. The food is bland and service is outright rude! This was the worst restaurant of our lives. The waiters are the rudest and most disrespectful we’ve ever seen! 😳😖 Even if the food was good (which is not), the fact that the waiters are so incredibly rude (to the point of being like sadists) makes you loose your appetite. We had to wait a long time to get a table, even if there at least 3 available (they intentionally keep people waiting outside). Then the waiters intentionally ignored us for 15 minutes. We had to « beg » for their service! 😳 We had travelled the whole day and our child was very hungry (I had already told the waiters but they didn’t care) and so we wasked them if it’d be possible to bring her food first. She had ordered a simple dish, which would take them 5 minutes to prepare. The waiter was clearly annoyed, making faces and all, and told us that our dishes would come all at the same time. Then they brought first my husband’s dish, then mine and more than 15 minutes later, our child’s food!!! 😳 😡 The waiters were all smiling like sadists!!!! 😳 😡 I have many other examples of their rudeness but I don’t wish to write a very long review. Just don’t go there if you wanna have a nice evening. We were feeling disrespected and if our child wasn’t so hungry and it wasn’t so late, we’d have never stayed at this place! 😡 The restaurant owner is lucky to have a spot in the old town on the square, otherwise he’d probably would never see a customer! We could notice that the waiters were a little nicer with English customers, but I spoke in Portuguese with them, since it’s my mother tongue. But they clearly prefer English tourists…. 😡 Last but not least, their food is bland and tasteless. Their pesto doesn’t even have parmesan, their gnocchi tastes like rubber!!! Their pizza is tasteless. 😡 I’ve never eaten such horrible food...
Read moreThis was theeee worst restaurant experience I’ve had in Portugal and I’ve been here for 3 weeks. First off, when we arrived, we weren't even greeted. I had to walk over to a staff member and was told I could sit over there. The man who was serving us was awful, very very rude. I asked for a suggestion on whether the risotto was better or the gnocchi and it was almost as though I was bothering him. We got our started, it was mediocre. Then we had to wait for about 40 minutes to get our main. I asked a waitress and she asked me to hold, came back said 10 more minutes. After 10 minutes, I got up and went over to the man who served us because nobody was paying any attention to us. (There was nobody else in the restaurant, this should have been a sign). This is the point where I lost it, I asked the man when our food was coming because we were waiting a very long time. He snapped at me, “you ordered a starter right?!” I really didn’t understand wha this had to do with it. He continued “you weren’t waiting for an hour. If you wanted the main to come same time as your starter, you should have said!” I was shocked at his aggression and said “well I didn’t want my main to come same time but we are waiting a very long time in between” he continued to argue his silly point and I responded with “you are very rude and being arrogant, what you should say to a customer is sorry you will check with the kitchen” At this point he stormed off and reappeared with the food 5 minutes later, to add insult to injury, it was awful. I had a few fork fulls and left. I would never be...

I've never seen the word "bland" used so frequently in a restaurants reviews - unfortunately we hadn't read them before eating here.
And that is exactly how I'd describe the food.
My golden metric for deciding whether a restaurant meets the bar, is whether or not I could reproduce (or exceed) it myself in my own kitchen. I am a truly terrible cook, but I promise you I could have served up better pasta than these guys. Both my partner and I ordered different pastas, and we were both left looking at each other thinking "is this it?".
Exact same reaction for dessert. The chefs here put zero effort into their meals, or they simply don't taste whatever they cook.
The. Food. Has. Zero. Taste.
Dear manager, I implore you to taste the food you are sending out.
The icing on the cake was their card machine not working, and them having me run around for 40 minutes trying to find cash from an atm machine which accepted contactless (they don't exist here, I returned to the restaurant fuming and luckily it finally worked). The best part is management knew their card reader was not working that night, but decided not to tell us before ordering.
I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Go to the Indian across the road, they would serve better Italian food.
The only redeeming asset was the atmosphere, which they inherit for free by serving to patrons in the middle of the square, which they've obviously acquired the license to. By sitting outside, you get to watch all the drunken...
