This was the worst restaurant experience we have ever had in Portugal! First of all, the internet says it opens at 6:00 pm, so we stood in front of the restaurant, and nobody really cared that we wanted to eat there. After 5 minutes, a waiter came out with an “I-don’t-care attitude” and told us they only open at 6:30 pm. Well, great job then—why don’t you update your opening times online so people don’t stand outside confused? Or was it just that you didn’t feel like working?! Anyway, half an hour later we came back, and almost all the outdoor seats were taken. We still got a table, but it was on a slope, so we had to eat on an incline! Thanks for the “kind gesture” for showing up early!
So, we wanted to order drinks first, and what happened next is something you don’t see every day! The waiter first brought us bread and olives, even though they were meant for other guests. We told him we hadn’t even ordered anything yet! Alright, drinks ordered: two glasses of water and one glass of sangria = we got beer. Next attempt: one glass of water and one sangria. Respect, he forgot the water. The lady next to us also didn’t get her sangria, and other guests received the wrong drinks too. This restaurant is a circus!
Fine, we ordered our meals: starter – mussels, mains – sardines and steak Portuguese style. The mussels were old, one even had an insect inside, and they tasted absolutely awful. We called the waiter, showed him, and got new mussels, which this time were fresh! Why not like that from the start, dear owner? The sardines—how can you go wrong with sardines, right? Well, they were drenched in oil and garlic, the side dish (boiled potatoes) also drowned in oil with an extra portion of garlic on top. The steak “Portuguese style” was a joke—not a funny one. It was swimming in butter, oil, and fat, and the single strip of bacon on top is supposed to make it Portuguese? Ridiculous. The side dish, fried potato slices, were bone dry. We ordered rice as an extra side—it was soaked in oil as well! Oh, and the waiting time for the food was absolutely terrible. We sat down at 6:30 pm, and two hours later, after we finally ate, we paid right away! After just one hour, my wife and I already had stomach problems.
No idea how this place has 4.3 stars on Google—it deserves minus a million. To sum it up: worst service ever, old food served, and the food in general was simply not good! And if the owner reacts to my review like a little offended child, the same way he did to other reviewers, then...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of dining at Pescador. The food was simply amazing, especially two types of Arroz that were bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The fried mackerel was also a standout dish that was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
The atmosphere at restaurant was lovely and added to the overall experience of dining there. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, making me feel right at home.
The service was exceptional as well. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They stopped us from ordering too much food since the portions were very generous. This was a great touch that showed that the restaurant truly cared about their customers' dining experience.
To top it all off, the Sangria was absolutely delicious and perfectly...
Read moreWe came here for dinner and it was packed. Be careful as this restaurant brings bread, butter, sardine pate, olives and cheese to your table without asking. They charge everything separately and it doesn’t matter how many actual portions are given, they will charge per person at the table.
Besides that, the food was great and generous portions. We had the calamari and fried prawns with a side of rice. The calamari was amazing and plentiful (one order could feed 3-4 people easily!) the fried prawns with garlic was okay; we’ve had better and larger prawns in Lisbon so this was a bit disappointing since were right by the sea here!
We also ordered a sangria and it was nice and refreshing! Overall service was good, ambiance was okay; but food is worth it! Get the mussels before they sell out...
