AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Absolutely the worst rip-off tourist trap experience I have ever had in Portugal or elsewhere. The food was inedible. My friend had diarrhea within hours. The bacalahau a braz caused it. it looked like dog vomit. when I got there people next to us had eaten half and left the rest, should have heeded the warning. I have had real bacalahau a braz many times before. this is nothing like that. my wife ordered a baked potato with cheese and ham. what came was pre-frozen French fries out of the oven with some cold yellow goop (think velveeta cheese or worse) on top and cheap lunch meat sliced ham strips on top. Just awful!!! I hate getting ripped off like this, what a bunch of thieves. I had grilled fish and even that was weak. broccoli and potatoes undercooked. the codfish my friends daughter had was hard. pizza was beyond bland. the whole thing was $87. took an hour. all that left a really bad impression and ruined our afternoon. service charge added too as others mentioned. My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout Europe. Before we visit any place, we research the local customs, including service fees and other things such as restaurants bringing you appetizers you didn’t ask for. Do your research people! We stopped there after (nearly) visiting the castle. The server wanted to know if we were having drinks or eating, because he would have turned us away if we were only having drinks. Fair enough! They have limited seating, and I can understand why they don’t want to provide a respite for weary travelers drinking one drink, and taking a table for an hour. The food was more than acceptable—I had the octopus salad. It was tasty, spicy, and with good flavor. My wife had the vegetable soup for €3, which was delicious. We ordered bread (knowing it was extra) and the rolls were great. Hard crusty outside with a tender inside. Don't go there. Food is ok...service is not good they cheat you with the price, any restaurant in portugal, spain, or any place you have to know how much you are gonna pay for each thing that you order...before you order the main course, here, they serve items and snacks ( fish cakes olives bread and butter ) over the table for you to eat they don't show after you eat how much you are going to pay and they bringht you after you eat the menú. Thats nasty. After that is lot of money plus they charge you a 10% extra for service that they never tell you.They are not honest and always use tricky things. Also they are not professional.When we refuse to pay the extra ammount that they wanted to charge us for a not fair reason they got mad...started to scream...they didnt want get any solution or help us...even they were actin as they were calling they police. And we always were honest, polite and clear with them..on.my opinion.they dont have...
