When I discovered this spot, I knew I had to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did. It’s easily one of the best cheesesteaks I’ve ever had, and remarkably, it’s located 5,540 kilometers from Philadelphia, right here in my hometown of Lisbon.
Owners Mark and Beth—originally from Philadelphia and New Jersey—have truly mastered the art of the authentic Philly cheesesteak. The combination of tender beef, melted cheese, and perfectly grilled onions delivers a rich, flavorful, and satisfying experience that stands out as the best in Portugal.
The atmosphere captures the spirit of Philly, and the staff are exceptionally welcoming and friendly. I was so impressed by the food and the story behind the restaurant that I created a video documenting Marc and Beth’s journey—from their original idea and early pop-ups to the opening of their full restaurant. (You can find the video on my YouTube channel, Johnny Portugal.)
Beth even shared that a couple once drove three hours from northern Portugal after watching the video, just to try this truly authentic cheesesteak!

Read moreAs a Philadelphia native, I was intrigued when a friend recommended that I not miss this Philly Cheesesteak restaurant in the center of Lisbon. I grew up loving these and have high expectations. Delphi cheesesteaks are the real deal.
The restaurant is run by Philly locals, a lovely couple who greeted us on the way in. They have a passion for perfection in their food and it shows.
The rolls are made fresh in-house daily and pair perfectly with the thin shredded and perfectly cooked beef filling with melted cheese. I ordered mine with grilled peppers and onions and it was phenomenal.
My wife ordered the buffalo chicken and let’s just say that I would give this place 5 stars if that’s all they made. The fries were perfectly crisp and held that crispness in the extra order that we ordered as take-away.
Philly cheesesteaks are not easily created with authenticity, but Delphi Cheesesteak has created a sandwich that competes with the best. I’m on the West side of the Atlantic now but would order this again...
Read moreThis is comfort food straight from Philadelphia to Lisbon. The first bite was almost orgasmic! Definitely “happy food”: Fresh home made buns, high quality meat, fresh veggies. There’s a vegetarian option (vegan if you go without the cream cheese) and this month (November) they have a special with turkey and stuffing and even cranberry sauce in honor of our Thanksgiving holiday at the end of the month. We had lunch there with the traditional sandwich and then I ordered the monthly special - turkey version - to take home for dinner tonight. This is my new favorite go-to place for a piece of the US in Lisboa! Highly recommended! One caveat: DO NOT USE UBER EATS TO GET YOUR CHEESESTEAK. A week after my review above I decided to order in. Uber Eats brought it all the way to my door, but never rang the bell. They were on the phone for about 6 minutes, sitting nearby, then took off to deliver someone else’s food a long way from my house. I had to cancel the order. This is UBER EATS FAULT not the Cheesesteak...
