Some nights ago, we ventured from Alfama to Santos to try out the newly opened Dozo Sushi, and it was an experience well worth the walk. The moment we stepped in, we were greeted by Kris, who ensured our experience was nothing short of perfect.
The menu was a delightful journey through Japanese cuisine. We started with Gyoza and Wakame Salad, which set a high bar for the rest of the meal.
The star of the evening was the Chef's Special Uramaki - a divine combination of Tempura Shrimp and Salmon. To round off our feast, we indulged in a Sushi Platter that boasted 24 mixed pieces of sushi and sashimi, each piece a testament to the chef's skill and creativity.
Finally the Nigiri with Scallops and Foie Gras was an exquisite blend of flavors, easily the best Nigiri I've ever had.
The selection of Japanese beers enhanced the flavors of the dishes. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant was a perfect setting for a quiet dinner for two, far from the bustling touristy sushi bars in the center.
Dozo is a must-visit for any sushi lover in Lisbon. The quality of food, attention to detail, and warm service make it stand out as a gem in the city. Highly...
Read moreWe had this restaurant recommended to us by a waiter at another restaurant. She called it "the best sushi she's ever eaten" and we were sure that would just be a personal perspective.
....From the first roll we bit into, we were absolutely blown away. It was, indeed, the best sushi we'd ever eaten. We had to keep ordering more rolls to experience it. Really pleasant and helpful staff, and the chef was an absolute master and a joy to talk to. We will almost certainly travel back to Lisbon to make another visit!
Most gets: Chefs Special Roll, but everything was great (we also got Salmon Avocado, Spicy Tuna, and a bowl with assorted fish, both excellent)
Can be confusing between the locations but this is the Santos location, Cafe Dozo is the one in...
Read moreWe had dinner here last night. The food was delicious, and the staff were attentive and friendly. We had seen a menu online from a few months ago which had chicken teriyaki donburi which we all fancied. However, this was a lunch menu item and steamed rice and spicy tori karaage was given as an alternative suggestion. The karaage was delicious and an excellent recommendation. We also had the spicy edamame, braised spicy salmon signature rolls and spicy tuna signature rolls. It was all delicious and we are considering visiting again (even though only here until Saturday). It was my Mum and Dad's first time eating Japanese food, and they were very impressed. By far, the best sushi I have ever eaten. Well done, and thank you, Krishna and the...
