I'm a regular at this place since it's the closest kebab shop to my home. The service and food used to be impeccable, to the point we went 1-2 times a week.
Sadly the staff was changed, and while the senior, I'm assuming manager is still the same, and he's nice, sympathetic and overhaul great, a specific new guy is the exact opposite and changed the experience. Every time we complain, he talks to the manager in a foreign language and the manager seems to allow him to do wtv he wants.
Despite we going weekly, he still tries to squeeze extra money off us, like adding things and saying its "obligatory". We keep saying it's not since we go there weekly and he keeps doing it.
But it gets worse. We used to just ignore the above, but this person also does not care about the food, and that we can't have. Today I have received a doner box where this person didn't even dare to cut the meat. As soon as I pulled one piece, everything wanted to come out of the box. We're talking about entire slices of kebab he put in here. The fries, multiple times has he put uncooked fries in our meals. Last time I also said no onion on my kebab and he put onion, and then looked at me and smiled which was super disrespectful. I can't prove this was done on purpose, but it sure felt like it. There's a sense of urgency on this person, like he does everything fast but extremely badly done, and that affects everything, turns a good restaurant into a bad one. We don't mind an extra minute or two to cut the meat, or cook the fries.
Enough is enough, while I like to promote and give my money to these local restaurants, I can't recommend going here anymore just due to the service. If you don't mind being peddled, paying for things that aren't there and having the bad luck of this person serving you, then you'll have a tasty meal, otherwise, avoid.
This restaurant went from a nice place where we went, had a good meal and chat with the staff, to some tasty meat in a bad packaging along with bad connection to the...
Read moreIstanbul Kebab & Pizzas in Alameda is, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had the displeasure of enduring. If you're even remotely considering eating here, do yourself a favor and avoid it at all costs.
First off, the pizza was an utter disaster. They somehow managed to botch even the most basic element—the crust. Instead of a beautifully crisp base, I was served something that could only be described as soggy cardboard—flimsy and utterly tasteless. It was as if they had reheated a frozen pizza crust in the microwave and hoped no one would notice.
The sauce? A sour mess that tasted like it had been left out for days. There was absolutely no balance between sweetness and acidity—it was just a mishmash of unidentifiable flavors that reminded me more of ketchup mixed with vinegar than anything remotely appetizing.
And the cheese—what a travesty. If you enjoy overcooked rubber, this might be your thing, but for anyone else, it was torture. The stretchy consistency they were presumably aiming for ended up being a failed attempt, resulting in a chewy, clumpy mess that stuck in your teeth. The Margherita was an insult to anyone who has ever enjoyed a real pizza, and the kebab on the other pizza was dry, flavorless, and downright unappetizing.
As for the service, it’s hardly worth mentioning. The staff seemed utterly uninterested in being there, let alone in serving food. They were slow, disengaged, and clearly didn’t care about providing a pleasant experience for their guests. The atmosphere was equally miserable—it felt like dining in a damp basement, with no sense of warmth or hospitality.
In summary, Istanbul Kebab & Pizzas in Alameda is a place you should avoid if you value your time, money, and taste buds. Calling it a disappointment would be an understatement; it was a complete disaster. I would never consider setting foot...
Read moreThey are so unhygenic. They don't use any gloves and you watch them to make them use but they are so relax about it. Sorry but here is not India and you can't serve like this. The guy who has star tattoos throws everything (napkin, paper, piece of the foods) to the floor.
As a Turkish, I hated that these people work here and serve like they live in India.
Don't touch the bread or meat without gloves please!!! The owner should change these people.
I understand, if you can't speak Portuguese but firstly asking portuguese and getting the answer portuguese then why are you asking second or third time in english? If you don't know the language, directly start with english.
I even told them bom trabalho but didn't get any reply and left there.
If you are going to live in a country, try to adapt there. Don't spread...
