I made a dinner reservation at this restaurant. Unfortunately I the friend I was carpooling with had a minor car accident but a person from the dinner party had already arrived to save the table. Because of the stress of the car incident I didn't even think to inform the restaurant but was talking to my friend who was already there. She informed me that the server was angry because of the delay and that they'd told her she was lucky they weren't giving up the table (at this point the restaurant was empty and throughout our time there, there was never anyone waiting to dine). I arrived about 45 min late. I immediately apologised to my friend for the wait and thanked her for saving the table and as soon as the server came I apologised to him also maybe 3 or 4 times and explained what had happened. He insisted that it was not okay and that I should've called and that it cannot happen next time. We started ordering food and hoped that the issues were over. My friend whose car was broken arrived maybe 30min after me but we we're already eating and drinking and so we thought everything was okay. Not too soon after the food and drinks arrive to the table, the server comes back and says that the boss of the restaurant has been watching and because of the delays they will have to revoke the promotion under which the reservation was made (I had made the reservation through The Fork and it said that there was a 30% discount applied with the reservation). I think that if they wanted to revoke any sort of promotion, it should've been done prior to ordering food or at least prior to it getting to the table, giving us time to decide if that would or not impact our decision to dine there. I also felt weird about the server telling us that someone is watching over as we dine. I understand the need of cameras to look back at in case of an incident, I don't understand having someone just watching at all times. Anyway, the food came, we had ordered different dishes including the prawn skewer and mushroom risotto. Unfortunately, the prawns were mushy and the mushroom risotto had been made with some other rice that was not Arborio (or risotto) and as such had the consistency of porridge. We didn't want to upset any servers any further so we didn't complain. I had brought a birthday cake and we were informed that if we wanted to eat it we'd have to pay 2,5€ per person. Overall it was an unfortunate experience. I had an unforeseeable delay for which I apologised but that didn't make a difference in our dining experience as the servers had already made up their minds about what we felt were...

Food/Service: As I went spontaneous with a friend of mine for dinner with the intention to eat portuguese kitchen, I have ordered the pictured dish "Ovos Rotos". Which is basically a portuguese must try in Portugal.
Talking about this dish I've unfortunately received half raw fries. Nevertheless I objected, of course, and the positive reactions quickly followed. The waiting (super friendly and professional) took my plate and promised to talk to the chef. After waiting a short while I've received a completely new plate with perfect condition. The chef itself came out and apologized to us. As we received shots of port wine free of charge, which made the evening perfect.
Ambiente: Typical and traditional portugues flair and warm interior. Nothing to complain on this side.
In total I can only give the deserved 5 stars in all categories. Give it a try...
Read moreCais do Sodre, close to the metro and the Pink Street, stands out for its well-kept entrance although half-hidden. Small but well-kept place, design inspired by utensils and kitchen environment. Run by kind, helpful and always smiling young people, from the waiters to the manager. The chef, also young, comes personally to explain the dishes. Dishes resulting from his London experience combined with Portuguese tradition revisited in a youthful way. We ordered meat and bacalau in addition to dessert, I didn't really want to eat but the waiter was able to advise me from the type of dish to the wine. As Italians we are used to tasty food so the stars are all deserved! Go and meet these guys and their gastronomic offer, long...
