Landeau - The Chocolate Mousse Cake That’s Worth Every Escalator Chase

When Jo the pastry chef says, “You need to try the best chocolate cake in Portugal …. maybe the world,” you don’t argue. You toddle obediently through El Corte Inglés, dodging perfume spritzers and designer handbags, in search of the hidden escalator to the 7th floor. It’s a bit of a quest, but trust me - the cake is the grail.

Now, let’s be clear: this isn’t your average chocolate cake. Landeau only makes one cake, and it’s a chocolate mousse masterpiece. Rich, velvety, and just the right balance of sweet and bitter, it’s the kind of dessert that makes you close your eyes and whisper “wow” to no one in particular.

The slice is modest in size but mighty in flavour - a little bite of heaven that doesn’t need bells, whistles, or whipped cream distractions. It’s pure chocolate elegance, and you can taste the craft, care, and Jo’s knowing nod of approval in every bite.

Verdict: Landeau is worth the hype, worth the escalator chase, and definitely worth dragging a pastry chef through a department store for. Highly recommended for chocolate lovers, mousse enthusiasts, and anyone who believes dessert should be a...

have tried many chocolate cakes in the past, but this one stands out as a true masterpiece. The chocolate flavor was rich and decadent, without being overpowering, and the texture was perfectly moist and fluffy. It was clear that great care and attention had been put into the preparation of this cake. I cannot recommend it enough - whether you're a chocolate lover or simply looking for a delicious dessert, this chocolate cake is an absolute must-try. Five...

The cake is really incredible and worth it! However, I’d rather order in store and take it home. The time I sat down at this location the waitstaff was unbelievably rude, the quality of the service does not match the cake. Which, to say the least, is quite disappointing. Nowadays when I crave a slice I order it online rather than having to deal with poor customer service. The same has happened at another location of theirs, so I...

Landeau specializes exclusively in chocolate cakes, and it's clear they know their craft. The cake is dark, mousse-like, and incredibly satisfying—truly an amazing piece of cake. Their confidence in focusing solely on chocolate cakes is well-justified. I paired it with a cappuccino, which was average, but still a great choice to complement the rich flavors of the cake. For any chocolate lover, this place is a must-visit.
