I am Canadian from Toronto Canada and it was my first time traveling to Portugal and Lisbon. I had a 4 night stay at Hotel Principe Lisboa. The stay exceeded my expectations. I saw good reviews of it and I wanted a place with easy access and could include a breakfast. After careful reviews, I decided to book this hotel. I did see the average review on Trip Advisor was like a 3 star hotel. This hotel is not 3 stars to me. It is a boutique smaller hotel so not big and fancy like some 4 or 5 stars hotels with fancy foyer and restaurants. However, my room was immaculately clean. Spotless. The bed was comfortable. There is a safe with no extra charge. The breakfast was more than adequate with an assortment of fresh bread, cold cuts, bacon and sausage and eggs, lots of fresh fruits, cheese, and yogurt, make it yourself pancakes, and a coffee machine where you can select coffee the way you like it and an assortment of juices. The location is not right in the Baxia tourist district but it's a 30 minute walk. But the hotel is right across from a subway station and is a 4 minute walk to a massive mall El Cortes Ingles. While it is a smaller boutique hotel, you can tell management really cares for what they do and pay attention to small details. Staff are very welcoming both in the front desk and breakfast area.
You know in life people make good and bad choices and I have made my share of bad choices in life. However, choosing Hotel Principe Lisboa was not just a good choice but an excellent choice!!! The ultimate compliment to a hotel is would I come back to stay here and I definitely would. Like Arnold said, "I'll be...
Read moreFirstly, the good points. We stayed for 4 nights, and it was a very comfortable and clean hotel, in a quiet central location. Breakfast was fine.||Now the bad. We (like many others) were caught up in the massive power failures in Portugal and Spain. We had to delay our return travel to UK for 2 nights. On the night of the power outage we couldn’t get a room anywhere in the city. On the second night we managed to get a room at the same hotel. ||Upon return to UK we contacted the hotel to ask for a receipt, so we could claim the cost from the airline. The hotel failed to respond to several emails. I then got a Portuguese friend to call them directly. They told him they had responded to my emails. They also refused to issue a receipt, as we had booked through a third party.||Numerous further attempts to contact them were made, and they maintained they had responded, but could not issue a receipt - despite the fact they knew we had stayed there on the night in question.||Abysmal customer service, and zero business ethics, from a hotel that made a lot of money from us. They couldn’t care less that we were severely out of pocket. They also lied about replying to my messages - they didn’t respond once. Shame on you and...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here in April for 5 nights. Spacious , clean and comfortable room. Lovely buffet breakfast every morning with a huge variety of foods to choose from. The hotel has a nice small bar and is only a short walk from a wide selection of restaurants. Just across the street from the hotel is the terminus of the Metro Red Line. This line runs directly to and from the airport and costs less than 2 euros per person. Very convenient for travel days and sight seeing. Friendly, helpful staff on reception and a great guy in the bar. All fluent in English. If you plan to use public transport a lot (as we did) I cannot recommend enough that you get a "zapping" transport card. I can't remember the proper name of it but there are plenty of videos onYouTube showing how to obtain and use them. They're available from machines in all Metro stations including the airport. Basically you buy credit and "zap" the card as you enter and leave the Metro system. You can top up as you need to. The card is also accepted on buses and trams and worked out at about 1.60 euros per trip. Fantastic value and a very good transport system. Great trip and a...
