Just back from a 4 night stay at the Principe Avila. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lisbon. Staff on reception are welcoming, pleasant and helpful. We stayed on the 7th floor with a view onto the street. ||The hotel is in an ideal location with direct access from the airport to Sao Sebastio metro line (red line) which is the end of the line. Metro tickets are €7.50 for the metro card and 24 hrs ticket. Be aware there are steps from the metro to the street. Blue lines takes you the Baixa district (close to Rua Augusta), green line to Martin Moniz to connect with Tram 28 - you can use your metro ticket. Be prepared for a very long wait circa 2 hrs to board this tram. One tip is to pick it up on one of the tram stops rather than the starting point. ||Taxi takes approximately 20 mins and costs circa €15. ||There are hotels closer to the centre of Lisbon but with its excellent travel links to and from the centre with ample metro lines interconnecting this hotel suited our needs.||There is a large El Corte Ingles 5 mins walk away from the hotel which opens late. It is also a stop for the hoho buses. It has is a large and varied food court underneath the centre. ||The hotel offers breakfast which is varied and fresh and should cater to all tastes. The rooms are cleaned daily, have a safe, small fridge and ample storage. Our double room had a small table and chairs overlooking the street. There is a bar and underground parking. ||The Gulbenkian museum and gallery is at the end if the street through a beautiful park. Near the hotel is a small but well stocked supermarket offering fresh bread etc. ||Great hotel which contributed to a super stay....

Read moreWe stayed in the hotel for 4 days on our first visit to Lisbon.|From the moment we stepped into the building we knew we were on to a winner. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and attentive, in contrast to the hotel we had just left in the Algarve.||Rooms are modern and have everything you need for a pleasant stay. We had 4 great nights' sleep as the rooms were very quiet and the beds very comfortable.||Breakfast was great - large range of cold and hot food to choose from. Pastries and fruit were plentiful.||Hotel is situated in a quiet commercial area and is perfect for accessing the Metro and getting into town. Also across the road from the Metro red line, which takes you directly to and from the airport.||If we return to Lisbon, we will definitely rebook the...
