Hotel Alif Avenidas — Hotel in Lisbon

Giving this hotel one star since 300 euros were stolen during our stay, the managers and front desk had been very apologetic to my situation which I appreciate. There's security footage to who entered our room but the cleaning person denied any wrong doing. We reported to the police but that's about the extent of it. We don't expect to ever see the money again. I understand hotels don't have control over what their personnel does. But hotels have responsibilities over who they hire. These are the people who can walk into the guests rooms and go through their luggage. This experience was very unsettling to us, but through this incident we also met a lot of amazing people, the police officer who handled our case and said they believed us even though there's no footage of the stealing (happened in our room) but only footage of who entered our room; a local said they were very ashamed that this happened because it didn't reflect well on Portuguese.

I booked this hotel based on google reviews, and I was so disappointed. The rooms are so close to each other than any other hotel I've been to, and the hallways are by far the narrowest with loud echo for doors closing. I was right beside the staff room where they keep all the cleaning supplies and equipments, and they were in and out of the room dragging heavy equipment and working the shelves until 10pm making it impossible to sleep after a long day. I stayed for 6 nights and got zero sleep or rest. The view from the window is a complete concrete wall. You hear everything upstairs, and through adjacent rooms, and I had loud Latin neighbors with lots of luggage. The room had very little space, with twin beds and I heard people upstairs dragging the beds all the time. It is 50 min walking distance to the city centre, and there are some shops and nata place nearby as well as a high end shopping mall, but I would advise everyone to stay away...
