A Flavorful Feast in the Heart of Lisbon
Nestled at the end of Lisbon's vibrant Pink Street, Restaurant Rio Grande was a perfect discovery for my wife and me. This place is a perfect for anyone who loves good food and a great atmosphere. Especially in a place that could be a tourist trap.
Let's talk about the food first. I went for the roasted chicken with fries – simple yet perfectly cooked, juicy and flavorful. My wife chose the Bitoque Traditional Steak, and it was a winner – tender, and seasoned just right. But the showstopper was the chorizo roster. Imagine chorizo being roasted over a fire-burning brandy right at your table !
Now, onto the drinks. Their happy hour is something you don't want to miss. The drinks were not only affordable but also tasty. It's the perfect way to kickstart an evening in Lisbon.
The vibe of the place really comes alive at night. Dining outside adds to the experience, with the buzz of Pink Street creating a lively backdrop. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger, enjoy your meal, and soak up the atmosphere.
A tip for fellow travelers: come here for dinner and sit outside to get the full experience. It's not just about the food, which pretty good for the price, but also about the whole vibe of the place. Rio Grande offers a slice of Lisbon's nightlife at its best.
In summary, Rio Grande in Lisbon is a must-visit. Great food, fantastic drinks, and an unbeatable atmosphere make it a highlight of our trip. Definitely check it out when you're...

Where should we start.. we were greeted by a flamboyant man most likely on coke, who proceeded to dance at us and the other seated customers. He gestured to a table but didn’t bring us a menu so we eventually nabbed them off the cart ourselves. The dancing could have funny under certain circumstances but the vibe was very strange and uncomfortable, we did not enjoy. We moved inside to get away.
The food was kind of undercooked and badly seasoned, and we had stomach upset the next day. The drinks were like an off-brand liquid haribo nightmare. We got one cocktail called watermelon basil smash and it tasted like a women‘s public toilet smells. (Second was a virgin banana colada - do not).
I know this is very mean review. But we feel the need to share our horror. This will go down in history as one of the worst meals out we ever had. Please don’t make our mistake
Read moreto start off with, the host/waiter that greeted my boyfriend and i was very rude. My boyfriend asked for a table for 2 and the host did not reply, just kept dancing and singing along to the live music - fine, whatever. My boyfriend asks again and the host then gets up in my face and sarcastically says “hello how are you” and waves. I think that if you work in hospitality you should be experienced with dealing with a range of people, people could be anxious or introverted, have been travelling for many hours and/or not feeling well - I was all of the above, and was made to feel uncomfortable just because I wasn’t matching the host’s energy. Secondly, the waitress that took our order was barely paying attention and talking to another waitress at the same time, she got our drinks completely wrong. Later, she went to take the order of a couple sitting right next to us and fully leaned on my chair and put her arms on my chair - very uncomfortable and I felt shoved into the corner of the my own chair. Overall, extremely unprofessional and rude staff and the food was ok at best. Very expensive given the mediocre quality and the cocktails were very weak - if they even had alcohol in them at all. Tourist trap, corny place - do...
