O Jardim da Jujé | vegan coffeeshop & bakery — Restaurant in Lisbon

Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. The orange juice was watery, the açaí bowl had frozen chunks in it, and the sweet treat was simply uneatable (glad I noticed, before eating). I wasn't sure about leaving this review, but as a vegan, I rely a lot on reviews to find nice places and good experiences (especially in cities where there aren't many). So I am writing an honest review about a rather unpleasant experience.

[I have edited this review to add this bit in response to the reply of the owner: Dear owner, this is not just about liking or not liking the food. Regarding the pastry with mold, this is about food safety risk. And there is nothing that could have been done to "correct it". I was just extremelly lucky that I saw it before biting. Lastly, I do believe I needed to share this experience here since reviews are crucial information...

Tiny cafe operated by a very sweet and dedicated owner. You can tell how much she cares about her cafe, which is in apparent in all the details -- the plants and atmosphere, the menu selection, the fresh preparation of each item.

There are a few bar stool seats inside & a small table outside. It's a great place to stop and have a small bite, though the owner asks you don't pull out a laptop to work (you are welcome to while you wait for your food, but she asks you don't eat/work/linger given the small space).

I ordered an acai bowl to go which had very fresh ingredients and was a hearty portion size. It was pretty good on its own, but if you take into account the extra dose of care put into the item, it pushes it...

I would love to give a high star review as the owner is so so nice and everything is made with love. Also I would love to support a vegan place. However, I have to say that some of the stuff she sells was just not good and tasteless. The soup was quite disgusting (tasted like water), the coffee is not good and some of the bakery goods taste quite homemade but not in a good way. The small chocolates were very good though! I hope some things can be improved, maybe a barista course wouldn’t hurt, some more seasoning, and I would love to come back. Loved the...
