Went here for lunch. Has a great location right opposite the Gulbenkian so you can spend sometime at the museum and its gardens before or after your meal. We went with the omakase (chef's choice) but made the mistake of sitting at our own table rather than at the counter. I think that reduced the experience as we didn't get much explanation of what was being served. At the same time, the servings were extremely generous and there was no questioning the freshness of what was served. It was all just a bit - normal - really - nothing stood out except for the serving size. Nothing particularly inventive from a menu perspective. We had an interesting grilled eggplant and some miso soup, a host of sashimi - but nothing really stood out EXCEPT for the pudding. The dessert was incredible. It's a flan type that's so rich and creamy, it was heavenly. Frankly, I would go back and just have the dessert - it was that good. Atmosphere is a slightly higher end bistro type feel and the...
Read moreReally really really good sushi. The gyoza had amazingly thin wrappers, and tasted much more delicate as a result. The chirashi had every kind of sashimi and more. The ice cream tasted so fresh - ginger had ginger in it, black sesame had sesame in it, and matcha had matcha in it. I also ordered 300ml of sake, which might’ve been a bit too much for me, but it went really well with the rest of the meal.
And lastly, the toro nigiri was absolutely dreamy. It melts in your mouth like butter, and is such a treat when I’m able to find it.
10/10 would recommend. The sushi sashimi combos seemed to be a better deal, so I would probably go for that next time. I also called ahead for reservations, and kept asking for availability until they had a seat free (called on Thursday, seated for Saturday). I’m sure I also lucked out since we’re still coming out of a pandemic, so be sure to reserve early if you’re...
Read moreHad a good time eating here but the experience and the food did not particularly mark me so I think my rating is appropriate, and potentially even generous. There was some confusion between the waiters with regards to what was available and what wasn't because one would say yes and the other would say no and then I'd receive a lower grade sushi dish (in terms of tuna fat content) without being asked. Most importantly however, every specific dish I wanted to try was unavailable (toro, chutoro and unagi) 🥲 so we opted for the largest sushi/sashimi combo platter, which was fresh but ok/pleasant, several pieces were really quite miniscule. The miso eggplant and sea urchin however were spectacular, and kind of carried the dinner. All in all great ingredients, didn't LOVE it, but know several people that really enjoy this place, so I don't want to prevent anyone from having a great experience here, give...
