Restaurant O Marques, situated near Rossio in Lisbon, offers a captivating blend of history and culinary delights. This establishment stands out for its remarkable feature—the remaining tram tracks embedded within the restaurant. With its friendly staff, typical Portuguese menu, and affordable prices, O Marques provides a memorable dining experience that keeps guests coming back for more.

The history that permeates O Marques is evident the moment you step inside. The presence of the tram tracks, remnants of Lisbon's iconic transportation system, adds a unique touch that sets the restaurant apart. It's a fascinating reminder of the city's past, creating an atmosphere that marries nostalgia with more modern dining.

The staff at O Marques deserve accolades for their warm and welcoming demeanour. Their genuine friendliness makes guests feel right at home, fostering a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Whether you have questions about the menu or need recommendations, the staff is attentive and eager to assist.

Speaking of the menu, O Marques takes pride in serving a selection of traditional Portuguese dishes. From seafood delights to hearty meat dishes, there's something to please every palate. On my visit, I opted for the fried cod fish, a classic Portuguese staple. While the flavour was enjoyable - I love cod fish! , I felt that the dish was missing some greens. However, given the affordable prices and the restaurant's convenient location, O Marques still offers great value for money.

The unique historical setting, combined with the friendly staff and affordable prices, creates a compelling reason to return and explore more of the menu. If you're seeking a taste of tradition in a distinctive setting near Rossio, O Marques is definitely...

O Marques is located in a narrow alleyway close to Rossio station. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away. They do have an outdoor seating area as well. This looks to be a popular restaurant for some locals and tourists.

The menu is pretty straight forward and serving up the most popular Portuguese and Lisbon fare. Some of the staff do not speak English. The food took some time to come out due to miscommunication with the older server who didn't speak English. The other server was able to resolve our issue and fix up our order.

The prices here are very reasonable and the portions are huge. I wish I found this place sooner because every dish that came out of the kitchen looked delicious.

As for our steaks, my Tbone had nice flavour and was juicy. The only critique would be the cooking consistency of the steak. There some parts medium rare and other parts well done. The steak was served with fries. You can add additional side of rice or salad for additional cost. The steak with Portuguese sauce was served with egg on top and gravy. The steak was well done instead of medium rare which we would prefer. The fries were served on the side so they won't get soggy from the gravy. Next time we will try the cod fish which comes fried, grilled or boiled. I saw alot of patrons ordering the fried sausage and the cow steak with chips, rice and egg. I recommend coming here early and prepare to wait if you are larger party. The prices are really reasonable and the portions were generous. The beers here were ice cold and smooth. The desserts are good too and we will try this place again before we...

Arrived after reading all the positive reviews and was quite excited to try some local Portuguese cuisine. First thing, walked into the place and was shouted at to move out of the way and get out! After which we were shown to a table after some discussion, by a very angry old man. We had some cutlery shoved in front of our faces without not a word of welcome. A menu was almost thrown at my partner while in mid-run away from us. Afterwards, my girlfriend very quietly asked if he speaked spanish, after which he yelled out her in something in Portuguese and was very aggressive. After we simply stared at each other in bafflement, that we were simply here to get some food. We decided that this place had probably the worst service we ever experienced and leaved straight away.

I mean at least try to be some what kind or at least not aggressive to your clients. Terrible service! DO NOT GO HERE! We went to another place 10 min walk away and had the best meal ever. So this place should have a much lower score in Google in my opinion so don't fall for the...
